Asking out a girl who I work with?

  • Yep, I've got to say I think that's a polite "no" from someone who doesn't want to hurt your feelings, sorry :(

Sorry OP I agree with the others. That kind of non committal response is a gentle let down usually.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

She's blown you out dude, don't waste time now hoping for something that isn't going to happen.

The last five posts, while not what the OP wanted to hear, are, IMHO probably accurate.

I think the description is "being let down gently", which, to be honest, is an impossibility to achieve.

At least now the OP knows, if nothing else.
  • I'd say get on with life in the meantime. If she takes you up on that drink it'll be a nice surprise.
Boris Johnson voted against Brexit in the Commons, all to become leader of the Conservative Party. Fall for it and you deserve everything you get.

There is a possibility that she might be so busy at work that she doesn't feel like going out in the evening or she has lots of social engagements atm. Maybe you should say to her 'let me know if you want to go out for that drink'. But don't ask again. That leaves it open for her to ask you if she is interested but is not putting any pressure on her.

  • wait til the xmas night out, might get your card stamped there once shes had a drink or 12
  • Oh dear, sorry you were knocked back, OP :( Never mind. It obviously wasn't meant to be. Just keep talking to her as normal though - you don't want things to become awkward.

I met my other half at work 7 years ago. We've been together for the last 3.5 years and have a one year old son together.
  • Hang on a second... my girlfriend recently got asked out by a colleague...(it wasn't you was it..? ).. and she is genuinely busy with shift work for a month before she has free time (she works bizarre hours)... she has every intention of going on a date with this guy but seriously has no room other the coming weeks...he seems happy to wait...

OP don't be pushy - you have asked, she answered. Leave it until November, ask again... if it's the same answer then leave her alone...

Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".
