Hi ladies, thanks for the support, lots of thinking to do. If we started next cycle we'd be DR over crimbo, stimming in the new year. I found it didn't really feel like ivf until the stimms bit, so it might not have too much impact over the festive period. On the flip side, I'd not be able to drink and might be worrying all the time. Also the extra time to mentally prepare might be good. Once the shock of getting to the top so quickly has worn off We'll be in a better place to make a decision.
WonderWoman - sounds like they have got you on a low dose, which means they are going gently to avoid OHSS. The pens really are easy, twist the dial, stick the needle on and go! The needles are really thin, which means it doesn't hurt going in, but I found it stings a bit more when the liquid is going in. Just bear with it and it stops quite quickly. Re our ivf, as we've already had a cycle we don't need any appointments, we'd be going straight in to DR.
Rowangirl - amazing news, well done on making your 5 lovely follies. Have everything crossed they all get jiggly tonight and you have great embies tomorrow! I'll be on the long protocol again. X
PM - so sorry you feel crap. Big hugs and I've got everything crossed it goes smoothly for you on this cycle.
Purcy - sounds like you and DH have a very respectful relationship and take each other's needs into account. That will be invaluable when you do start on the roller coaster again. The break will be hard though so hugs for that.
T2D - hope your DR is going well. You do put it well re the ivf, it's all a bit real and it's the fear that if it doesn't work again then we are another step down the road to not having kids? Does that make sense? Allowing myself to hope that it might work means possibly exposing myself to a world of pain that I'm not really over from last time.
Baby wanted - what has doc said is the next step? Are you being refered to a fertility specialist or being put on the list for ivf?
MrsDavo - asked the nutritionist about carbs, she said avoid white carbs, like pasta, white bread and white rice. Go for potatoes with the skin on and choose whole wheat options instead like brown bed and rice. Make it around 25% of your plate. Hope that helps x
Hugs ladies xxx0 -
Thank you Rowingirl and Sew-It, that is really good to know. I will see what my my dose is.
PM - seems like it's the same for you. It must be so frustrating but sounds like OHSS is not one to mess with so better that they go carefully with us hey. Now you have definitely ov'd once, hopefully this round will be quicker for you. Lots of hugs PM.0 -

Definitely not one to mess with! I have PCOS so was on short protocol (no down regging) but they had me on 225iU of menopur. I did get 17 (or 18, depends who you speak to) eggs, so yay.... but I also got OHSS, so boo. According to our follow up appointment it was 'mild'. Mild my a.rse.
rowingirl - am so excited about your embryos waking up on their first full day0 -
Hi all, for those that have asked about my next step, well it's really just crossing my fingers, I don't qualify for fertility treatment in my area, so it really is just a pipe dream that I will ever be a mother but hey miracles do happen, right ??0

Hi guys
I haven't been around for ages, have kind of taken a step back from it all as we had a bad couple of months, first DH lost his job, then my parents had a really bad car accident back home and I had to go and look after them for a few weeks (thankfully they are both on the mend now and recovering really well), then DH had to have an operation (nothing serious but required general anaesthetic), then I had the stressiest few weeks EVER at work. Everything is settling down a bit now thank goodness but my mind wasn't on TTC at all, last month I would have ovulated on the very day DH had his operation so we didn't have a chance at all as BD was the last thing on our mind!
Everything is kind of on hold now as our FS appointment got put back due to the car accident, and now they're making us wait till after DH has seen a urologist about potentially having surgery for a varicocele, so really I feel like I'm in limbo and nothing is happening at all. Saying that, we have been having another try this month rather than just waiting for stuff to happen, so you never know.
Big hugs to all x
I had reflexology for the first time about a month ago and the same month had my first 28 day cycle ever. Not sure if it was a coincidence but several people have told me they've had similar results, and the friend who did it for me says she's had similar feedback from quite a few clients, so I reckon it's worth another go and am having another session tomorrow. Anyone else tried it?
Anyway hope everyone is ok. I haven't read the thread for a while so will read back and have a catch up and see how everyone's doing.0 -
Tea, booo! That sounds awful, I wonder why they started you on that dose? Have you decided where you will do your next cycle?
I just checked my drug schedule and I'm starting on 112.5iu so that must be quite low from what everyone has said.0 -
WW - that sounds low, I was on 375iu twice a day, then dropping to 300iu so they are obviously going nice and slowly! good luck with it when it starts and shout if you have any questions.
Angeltreats - really sorry to hear you have had a tough couple of months, big hugs, it sounds like you and your family have really been through the mill. x
Babywanted - that is rubbish, in what way do you not qualify? Would you be eligible in another area? Could you appeal the decision?
Rowangirl - once you feel ready, let us know how your little follies got on. xx
tea - its horrible when people 'dismiss' your symptoms isn't it. They might have classed it as mild, but I bet it didn't feel like that to you! Is your plan still to start DR in Jan?
xx0 -
Rowangirl: Fingers crossed for your eggs!
I've just had my day 6 scan and I think it's a bit of disaster. Only 4 small follicles and an irregular lining. B0llocks.
Derby2 TTC#1 since 09/08. 34, DH 34. Stupidly low AMH, DH fine. Miracle BFP ended in m/c 01/13. 6 rounds clomid, 4 IUI. Next step Started down-regging 20th October; long protocol; Burserelin and Menopur 225ui.0 -
Rowingirl thinking of you today.
Sewit I hope you guys get to to a decision that's right for you.
Ww due to the risk of ohss I've had to go back to the lowest dose and work my way up.my fs thinks I will need that dose again.
Tea ohss sounds tasty.
Angletreats gosh what a horrid few months you've had, I hope things calm down for you soon.
Babywanted sorry to hear you don't qualify for fertility treatment.0 -
derby - don't panic! Sometimes it just takes a while to get going. This is why you have the scans, so they can check progress, see how you're responding and review if the doses need to be changed. When's your next scan booked for?
angeltreats - sounds like you've all been through the mill lately, hope everyone's on the mend.
sewit - think we are still looking at Jan to start stimms. Which is a PITA as I really wanted to get going again before my EDD (christmas day) but looks like it's not to be. Yeah, OHSS felt anything but 'mild'! We were contemplating ambulances in the middle of the night at one point... mild! As Rachel in friends says about braxton hicks... "no uterus, no opinion" :rotfl:.0
