Evening ladies. Sorry been so quiet - I'll update lists this weekend.
Some good news for me after two hours of painful doctor poking around today. They managed to do a dummy embryo transfer so we are trying again this month. Yikes! Not mentally ready for it really. By this month I mean January really.
They did an endometrial scratch while they were there. Does anyone know when in your cycle that is meant to be done? I wonder if the cycle before your Ivf cycle helps. Anyway the doctor was so pleased with himself. I had given up and was on the nitrox by then, but really pleased they got access so a break from operations for a while.
And this is my one and only NHS funded cycle. Amazing not to have to fork out hundreds for a visit.
Hugs to all. I do read everyday but have struggled to get the motivation to write much recently. Extra his for you code and PM.0 -

I am actually glad DH is having a varicocele repair, I feel slightly less hard done by if he at least has to share a little bit of the nastiness that I am going to have to go through.
That said, he has offered to come to appointments with me and I know if I had an HSG or anything he would just assume he was coming rather than even bothering to ask. Perhaps your DH doesn't realise that an HSG isn't just an everyday procedure and is likely to be uncomfortable?
I was going to start Insanity this weekend, TACOD kindly put it on a USB stick for me, but the USB stick has totally vanished. I knew where I left it but it's not there, and I've turned the house upside down. I'm thinking one of the cats might have stolen it (not that far fetched as I caught one of them the other day playing with a screwdriver she had stolen from somewhere). So annoyed.
Oh and also, I nearly had another meltdown last night. We went to the Christmas party of DH's old team in his last job. I hadn't sat down fifteen seconds - literally- when his old boss who I was sitting beside announced her pregnancy. I had to run to the loo, DH thought I was just going to get up and walk out.
Off to a stress management/CBT workshop all day today so hopefully that might help a bit. And I've ordered some hypnotherapy CDs. I've been listening to Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin and while I am not thin yet, I have lost about half a stone since our appointment about three weeks ago and am now under BMI 30 again, so as long as I can keep to this weight or less by the first week in Jan, we'll get our IVF referral straight away.
Rambling... sorry. I haven't had a coffee yet!
Just reading through but if you haven't found it you can post me another memory stick.0 -

you express so much better than I do. I have had the same thoughts as you at times if that helps.
Its still a waiting game at the moment for you, hope it moves quicker for you both soon to get the help you need
x
Glad it's not just me.
The next stage is a diet and exercise program from January, and a completely pointless HSG for me, and then DH's biopsy which is a longer waiting list because at 6'3" he's too tall for the beds in the fertility clinic so needs to go to general surgery. That will tell us if we can go ahead with the ICSI or if it's all over, so that's the big one really. If there are no sperm cells to be had it's game over.
t2d, so glad it went well.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

Alright ladies - marathon update completed! Can you please check the list and the front page to see if the changes you asked for are done. Anyone who wants to be put on any list (appointments, ov induction, planned IVF etc) just let me know.
Some random personals - apologies haven't responded to lots of people.
Wonder_woman Massive hugs and sorry about the BFN. Breaks my heart thinking of you crying everyday. This whole process is so hard, and so alone.
chickpea Same to you. Such excitement and then heartbreak! Sending hugs
Sewit You mentioned your IVF was very expensive. Mine is too - around £7k an ICSI cycle. I am in London, and the clinic is in Chelsea (Lister) so it makes sense it is expensive. Plus it's a PITA to move clinics once you have started somewhere. The tests all need re-doing, and lots of unproductive meetings with the doctors before they get down to business. I'm starting at C&W now, on an IVF cycle and I've been impressed with them so far, and I believe they are significantly cheaper privately.
Anyway, it's a tough decision. I'm just saying that I don't necessarily think you get what you pay for - some cheaper places might suit you. I'd not put too much faith in success statistics, as those can be massaged. Plus it depends on your own particular problem. For me finding somewhere I trust and feel comfortable, and is convenient for work, is a key part of the decision.
Code Sorry things seem so bleak. Realising it's really not going to happen naturally is a tough step. I still hope each month...
Was that your first dildocan scan? They are fairly easy I think. Truth is that after the first second it's all relatively dignified. And interesting to see whats going on inside. I think it's good that you DH has at least got onto the waiting lists, think of it as the start of real progress, not the end of hope.
Rowinggirl, Sewit You both mentioned the scratch. Since I got one, sort of unplanned, yesterday, can you tell me more about it? What is it really supposed to do?
bewilderedhelpneeded, Chocoholic_chick and pinkteapot Welcome, and welcome back respectively. Let me know if you want to put something on the front page, and if you want me to put you on the weekly lists of appoinments and things.
And finally - danielley - Abnormally high sex drive / Addictive gambling / Excessive eating or spending I properly Lol'd at that! Never seen such awesome side effects. But, hope you are coping ok and that the treatment works.
AFM - after yesterdays fun (think 2 hours of legs akimbo, doctor poking painfully around, after an hour or so I took some of the offered gas and air which made it easier) I am starting a short protocol in January. They re-did my AMH and it's gone up. Still not great, but 6.6 is better than 2.0. I always knew that reading felt a bit off. But the protocol is 450iu of Menopur a day. 450!!! At least this time I'm not paying for the drugs.
I've got to sort all the sexual health tests (HIV etc) in the next few weeks, although most are still valid as they were done less than 2 years ago. The hard part is co-ordinating DH to track all his down too. They have asked for a new SA, but DH is resisting, just because it's an annoyance to arrange, and one was basically done in november during the ICSI. Hopefuly they accept this.
Off to Sweden for Crimbo next week, and then bring on 2014.0 -
Thanks T2D, could you take me off the awaiting FS appointment list please? Good luck in January, things sound a lot more hopeful for you. Scientists think it works in one of two ways: it increases white blood cells in the womb that help the embryo implant or switches on genes in the endometrium that are important in embryo implantation. This article explains it better than me! https://www.createhealth.org/blog/endometrial-scratching-could-increase-implantation-rates-significantly. It should be done the cycle before your IVF cycle and is supposed to last about 2-3 cycles. Enjoy Sweden, will you see the Northern Lights?
Code, fingers crossed the doctors can take viable sperm cells from your DH. What's the waiting list like?
AF started today. So fed up with unexplained infertility. I really wish someone could tell me if I will definitely have/not have a baby and if so when. At least I'd have certainty rather than second guessing my decisions. The biscuit will only dare to be just a biscuit when it is with its true friend the potato. (Edward Monkton) :beer:0 -

I think they said May, so we'll know more then. It seems a long time to wait to be told either you can't have children of your own, or there's a 37% chance you can have children.
I agree that it would be so much easier if someone could just tell us whether it would ever happen or not. Sorry about AF. Hugs.
T2D, have a fabulous time in Sweden for Christmas. Sounds brilliant.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
Thanks rg. Sounds like it was done at the right time by pure luck. I certainly didnt do anything else they advised! No-one to take me home, and a few pain killers beforehand might have been an idea. But at least it is done and hopefully helps.
It makes sort of sense to me. It feels like they are waking up your body to do something new. Might be why people hey pregnant after miscarriage. Your body gets a shock, but then works out what it is meant to do.
Got to wonder how they came up with the idea though.0 -
T2D - thanks for updating the lists, very helpful indeed! RG explained the scratch perfectly! I have heard from someone in my clinic that they might carry out the scratch on day 8 or so of the cycle. When AF arrives I'll be calling the clinic and they will tell me then so I will let you know. Brilliant news about the mock transfer, I am so pleased for you!:j
Code - I think we have all felt like that from time to time. I wonder if I could get pg by someone else and if DH could get someone else pg. but it doesn't really matter as I don't want anyone else's baby, I want his baby, our baby, so I try not to think like that too much cause it wastes my already low energy.
Frozen - call the clinic as much as you need, they have heard every question before and then some!
Out with some girl friends tonight, hope no one asks about babies as I just want to have fun!!0 -
Sorry for the brief up date, feeling awful still. Had my progesterone back and its 16 the fs thinks I might have ov later than expected withy the trigger which is making me really worried we didn't bd at the right time. Otd is mon 30 th.0
