Hi everyone - thanks for commiserations! Believe it or not, I don't feel too down today...

    Several reasons:

1 - I didn't have as much time to get used to this pg as the last one. It's easier to "unthink" it.

2- Early loss is "easier" than later loss to deal with, at least for me. Also, spontaneous and, I assume, complete miscarriage is easier to process than mmc.

2 - Fertility/pg disappointment is "business as usual" - nothing to see here..

3 - If I was to look for a silver lining, I have at least managed to conceive twice in 6 months even if I lost them both. This is twice more than I managed in the previous nearly 4 years. My womb *wants* this, and my eggs have also upped their game. I suspect 3 reasons for my improved fertility (I need another list!): (a) high protein/low-carb diet; (b) weight loss of 2 and a half stone in last 11 months (c) in your forties, you can, paradoxically, get more fertile as your FSH starts working overtime, sensing the end is nigh.

4 - I have nearly 2 dozen bottles of Champagne, prosecco and wine in the house. ALL with my name on them.

    Happy Christmas!

    xx
  • Chickpea - I am so happy that you are able to see the positives.

Apologies if I am overstepping, but one of my friends had two miscarriages in quick succession and after investigations she was prescribed an aspirin a day for some/all of her pregnancy. (Something to do with the lining of the womb...can't remember details as I wasn't TTC then so not as in the know)She went on to carry full term twice after that.

It may be worth mentioning to your GP or FS (although I know they do not like us to self diagnose)!

    All the best x
  • I'm not too bad thanks RG, it does get easier after the initial shock and upset doesn't it? I guess I just struggle to get my head around the fact that there is no reason to a lot of what happens - it's crazy to think from 20 follicles you can end up with only 1 half-decent embryo and even that turns out to be a dud.

Not sure if it's right to make a straight comparison dosage wise between Menopur and Gonal-F but I was on 112.5iu of Gonal-F (as a OHSS risk too) so sounds similar to you?

As SewIt said, I think it's good that there are things they can change with your cycle. If they've got nothing left to suggest that's when I would worry. The pens are really easy to use, you literally just twist to set the dose and off you go so don't panic. Excited for you starting again soon :)

SewIt - I keep meaning to look into endo scratch more. Also, thinking about IUI as the IVF will cost us around £6-£7k next cycle  and so we can't afford many cycles of that!! IUI at our clinic is only around £1500 but success rates about 10%. Not sure if it's worth a punt? God knows why success is so low as surely that is how things happen naturally? Hmm...

Code - I hope you made it through the day and are feeling a bit better. Crap stuff always seems to happen all at once doesn't it. Fingers crossed it's out the way now and the new year will start off better.

Chickpea - I am loving your positiveness! I too have a bottle of (mulled) wine with my name on it tonight and DH is making dinner. Bliss.

ETA: Danielley - Are you feeling ok on your tablets?

So, so sorry for your news chickpea but seriously impressed by how you are coping.

No exciting news here, I think I'm the most tired I've been in forever at the moment so that what's going on inside my brain doesn't make sense.

It has been said before here but roll on 2015!

ETA: Danielley - Are you feeling ok on your tablets?[/QUOTE]

    Morning all,

Hi Wonder_Woman - Thanks for asking. I can't say that I feel that different on the cabergoline; I have been tired but it's winter and I'm always tired. I had a row with my OH about New Years Eve, but I have always been able to hold my own (another one of the side effects can be aggression) so I doubt I can blame that on the pills :)

One thing I am hoping the sort out is my glamorous hairy goatee! Ever since I came off the pill I have been a bit fluffy shall we say in the lip & chin area and one symptom of prolactinoma is increased hairiness so I am really looking forward to that bogging off!

I hope you are all ok, I can't believe it is Christmas next week!

WW - depends on your IF diagnosis as to if IUI is likely to be successful. If its unexplained, then NICE don't recommend it as success rates are so low. Check out the HFEA website and research, research, research. The cost of IVF in your area seems really high. Our IVF was £3,500, about half the cost of yours. Can you look into travelling to a cheaper area? I'm a bit apprehensive about the scratch, but figure I might as well as they wouldn't change anything else for this cycle, but I feel I need to do something different. Does that make sense? Re the failed IVF, each day and week does get a little easier and more bearable. I'm still left with a fear that I can't shake, but feel I need to tackle it head on and see what happens!

Code - sorry you are having a rough time at the moment. Has AF turned up yet? huge hugs x

RG - how are you now? Has the review helped to clarify things or thrown up more questions?

Danielley - hope your symptoms settle down one the meds really kick in.

T2D - how are you my dear, feeling any better? x

cwtw - sorry you are exhausted at the moment, could you be low on iron? x

Chickpea - wow, you are coping amazingly with this and its great that you can look at things objectively and see some positives. Are there tests you can get into why you experience early miscarriage?

PM - not heard from you in a wee while, you ok? How are you getting on with ov, any sign of it yet?

AFM - hospital lost my bloods so had to get tested again:mad: Been soooo tired lately and want to check if my iron is low. I want to be going into cycle two in tip top condition!
  • Chickpea –so sorry to hear your news. Thinking of you x

    Gelly – congratulations! x :T
(apologies to anyone I’ve missed – hugs to everyone who needs them xxx :grouphug: )

Completely managed to wow everyone in my office last week – you know Pregdar? (where infertiles can tell when people are pregnant before it shows). Well there was a tea party for someone who was leaving on maternity leave on25th October, one girl sat opposite us and halfway through our tea and cakes, it just dawned on me “you’re pregnant” despite there being no signs at all. I emailed my friend at work (who knows everything that’s going on) and said my money’s on that said girl being preggers next. Lo and behold, last week she announced was about 14 weeks! Everyone else in my office was amazed and wondered how on earth I knew when she could have only been about 6 weeks! :rotfl:

AFM – had a really encouraging first appointment with the consultant and nurse yesterday. Had an internal scan which confirmed that my ovaries were mildly polycystic (which we knew anyway).
They want me to start Provera on Day 19 of my next cycle followed by Suprecur nasal spray on Day 21 which I have to take until the HCG injection. They said AF should arrive a few days after starting Provera then to come in for the Day 0 scan. From that scan I’ll be on 137.5 IU Gonal-F pen injectionswhich they kept repeating, “they’re really easy and painless”! They also confirmed they’ll be doing ICSI and not standard IVF due to DH’s low count.

There was a lot to take in so I’m not sure I’ve completely understood it all but hopefully that sounds similar to other people!?

They also kept telling me “my type of ovaries” respond really well to treatment but they didn’t actually explain what they meant by “my type”! :D

    time2deal – please can I be updated?
Can I be moved to the IVF/ICSI/FET cycles currently ongoing list?
frozenpenguin - ICSI planned for mid February

And on the front page –
FrozenPenguin TTC#1 since Dec 2011. Me 31, DH 35, Me: mild PCOS,irregular cycles and irregular ovulation. Had Day 3/Day 21 tests, Ultrasound,HSG, 7 rounds of Clomid. DH: low SA in all 3 areas (count, morphology and motility)and a varicocele. Next step: Provera, Suprecur and Gonal-F to start January, ICSI planned for mid February
    Many thanks time2deal x :A

Good riddance to 2013 - roll on 2014 everyone!
