Being serious, being a surrogate mummy womb is something I would have always liked to have done since I was a teen. But time goes on, I know I probably could never face the idea of something like that, especially with trying so long.
I think its the most special gift anyone could give being a surrogate womb.Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.0 -

Scan today and not great news, follies have barely grown although lots and lots of them. Also oestrogen up so they are concerned re OHSS. She said they needed to increase the dose a little and would call this afternoon. When they didn't call, I called them (just before they closed) and they said they are leaving it the same
Why can no-one ever let you know anything or explain the reasons for anything despite you asking?! The nurse even said there was no point explaining as it wouldn't mean anything to me!
Also DH had an operation today (not ttc related) so been dashing to hospital and back etc and just feel tired, stressed and emotionalTGIF!
I hope everyone has a better weekend and some good news is around the corner for us all.
Derby2, are you doing ok? Hang in there lovely.
T2D, did the doc say what the next step is?
I hope you get some rest tonight Rowin, it is horrible when you can't stop thinking about it all.0 -
Ww sorry to hear that.hugs to you. I cant remember if you havd pcos or not? I knos that puts you at higher rate of ohss.0

star - I'm on vit D, vit B complex & folic acid. Don't despair, clinics have 20-40% per cycle success rate so someone has to be successful first time.
Wishing you strength tea. Waiting always feels like the hardest part. And the longest part. The biscuit will only dare to be just a biscuit when it is with its true friend the potato. (Edward Monkton) :beer:0 -
Sounds frustrating ww. I hate how little I seem to know about this process too, and how much you are at the mercy of phone calls and endless waiting.
No news from the docs today. Frustrating doesn't cover it.0 -
Today's stupid freak-out moment..... was just reading a thread about c-sections (no, I have no idea why either) and the comments about codeine not being good for breastfeeding. It really upset me as to be completely honest, I am totally addicted to prescription-strength co-codamol. I've taken it everday for about 8 years and I know there's no way I could stop.
So now I feel like a bad mother for putting drugs before breastfeeding.... despite the rather obvious point that I don't actually have anyone to breastfeed. Gah, don't you just love self-inflicted OTT guilt-trips??!
Love your crazy logic. But... has no one spoken to you about this for when you get pregnant? Breastfeeding yadda yadda but taking an opiate every day throughout your pregnancy will mean you're likely to give birth to an opiate addicted baby who will need to go through withdrawal. I hope I'm not overstepping the mark and I'm sure you know this already but didn't feel happy not mentioning it."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
FS has always told me there's no problem at all with taking cocodamol. Have been told to avoid NSAIDS but consultant said opiates were fine. Shouldn't have read a cesaerian thread!0

Throughout pregnancy? Or just whilst trying to conceive? NSAIDs can affect implantation and cause miscarriage. Opiates won't do this. Nor will they damage the baby or anything like that but they can cross the placenta and they are addictive.
It's one of those 'do the benefits outweigh the risks?' ones. I don't think your FS should neglect to mention that taking co-codamol regularly can lead to your baby experiencing withdrawal after birth. What the likelihood is and whether that is less or more of a problem than your stopping taking it is a question for the experts, not me.
From the NHS website:Most medicines, in some way, can affect the development of a baby in the womb. The effect on the baby differs between medicines and also depends on the stage of pregnancy that you have reached when you take the medicine.
In the case of Codeine/Paracetamol:
you should only take this medicine during pregnancy if your doctor thinks that you need it
if you repeatedly take this medicine during pregnancy your baby may become physically dependent on this medicine. This may lead to your baby having withdrawal symptoms from Codeine/Paracetamol after birth
You need to discuss your specific circumstances with your doctor to weigh up the overall risks and benefits of taking this medicine. You and your doctor can make a decision about whether you are going to take this medicine during pregnancy.
If the decision is that you should not have Codeine/Paracetamol, then you should discuss whether there is an alternative medicine that you could take during pregnancy.
Again, I hope I've not overstepped the mark x. I know that I just like to have all the information and then make my mind up."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Thanks PM, just have the pco bit but not the excess hair, weight gain etc...think it still increases risk though.
It's infuriating isn't it t2d, just can't bear how blas!/matter of fact they are about it and how we are so dependent on the little scraps of info/updates they give us as we never really know what our bodies are upto. I just want to shout "this our whole lives you are messing with"! Sorry to be melodramatic but just had enough today.:(0
