No news on o2 joining with t-mobile, they have their own higher speed 3g network coming soon so very very doubtful. As another poster has pointed out if you constantly want 'more more more' for not a lot of money then yes the network probably will let you go. There's more than enough to go around. And by 'on top' I mean statistically through customer numbers, mystery shops, value for money and the like. Every network will be offering 24 month contracts, o2 were one of the last to offer the 18 month tariffs, so its only a matter of time as has already been pointed out. The briefing I had yesterday said that data charges were likely to be changed by September, but that this was being pushed as a high priority to get it changed to time based rather than quantity based to even out the pricing and make it easier to understand and access. Data deals are likely to be offered in the same way as long weekends.

When it comes to mobile phones 'loyalty' is not a word I would use. Plenty of previous posts about customer care etc, but even contract lengths seem to discriminate against 'loyal' customers.
My current 12 month O2 contract expires during early July so I have been looking around for my next upgrade/package. However, I am pretty much limiting my options to staying with O2 because I am interested in getting the O2 XDA Orbit with free SatNav. This is where the lunacy of O2 packages begins:
I spoke to O2 about an upgrade telling them I was happy to increase my monthly tarrif from £30 to £35 per month and sign up to an 18 month contract. I was informed that on this tarrif I would have to pay £49.99 for the phone. The only way to get the phone for free was to sign up to a £40 tarrif. This applies even on a 12 month contract. They therefore seem to be pushing me towards the short-term contract instead of giving me a free phone on the £35 tarrif. For example:
£35 x 18 months = £630 (no free phone)
£40 x 12 months = £480 (get the free phone)
Where is the logic in this? Surely it is better for O2 to lock you into a longer contract? There are differences with the minutes available with each package but they are not significant.0 -
How depressing:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0

Stacey,
Thanks for keeping the forum up to date with inside knowledge of whats happening.0 -
It's no problem at all, I thought it would be pretty useful for some people, its a tariff thats virtually impossible to go over and so no more worrying about using them all up, therefore not going over your allowance and being charged, therefore being money saving??? which is what this site is all about??:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0

Exactly..
Knowing that you will pay a fixed amount each month and not worrying about going over your allowance is a great idea and im sure lots of customers will see the benefit of this. 0 -
Yes its a great idea, I can see a lot of people going for that, thanks stacey for all the info you have posted on this subject0
