Had a briefing today with the top guy at o2, looking at the statistics from all of the networks, o2 is still on top by a long way...

You're missing the point. What happens if a much better deal comes out after 9 months? It will reduce choice in the long run.Networks shouldn't be able to only offer 24 month contracts. Would be interested to know how it works in other countries

Sorry but i'm finding your posts nothing but advertising.I'm with o2 on good deal but will happily move if it only offers contracts on a 2 year basis

Your missing the point. I didn't say that o2 would only be offering 24 month contracts. The whole point is that for people who do not feel the need to have the latest handset or gadget, that they will enjoy using their extensive minutes and texts at a lower price than they would if they paid through the nose for a high spec phone. If people constantly thought 'what if' a better deal, a better car, a better tv, a better whatever how would people live their lives? In debt?

And no my posts are not purely about advertising, I thought I would be doing people a favour by letting them know good deals that are coming out but I won't bother when I get useless replies like that.. I'll apply to get this thread pulled

Stacey I totally agree with what you are saying, O2 do offer the best deals, whether its a 24 month contract or 12 month, the best deals at the time are the best deals to go for, so what if there are better deals in 6-12 montss time, this will always happen but the customer wants the best deal now so if its a 24 month contract, so what ?? You buy a new HD T.v thats £1000 and in 6 months a better model comes out thats cheaper, are you going to maon about it ?? No your not because you got the best deal at the time. Prices will change all the time, people want the best deals now so its hard luck if you want to wait for 12 months for a better deal, life just isnt like that.

Thanks for your post, its nice to know that some people do appreciate the posts that are made, I was merely pointing out that people on here are so quick to moan about everything as if the world owes them a favour, and pointing out that statistically, o2 offer the best network services and customer services/deals than all of the other networks, so can't be that bad, apart from the obvious few on here.. For those of you who say that longer tariffs/dearer line rental for shorter tariffs only get bigger profit margin/benefit for the network, then jeez where did you learn your marketing techniques?? of course that's the bigger picture behind it, im quite sure if you had a business you would want your customers to stay as long as possible!!

But yes, you see my point exactly so thanks :)

You don't have to point it out. If every company had a worker on MSE telling us how good the companies products were it'd turn into a free advert site. I care about consumers and was making the point that 24 month contracts are a step to far

Thats what its all about now, customer loyalty, I would say that is why most networks now are not offering that many good deals on the mobile phones as people are jumping ship all the time and switching, the best deals are going to be on long term contracts as they know they will keep you as a customer for at least that period of time, loyalty wins in business, a phone call to a company after 12 months saying I want more for less just wont work anymore, would your boss at your work say if you had only been there for 12 months say " Here have more money, work less hours" no they wouldnt but if you are with the company for a long time then the better they will treat you as a way of thankyou for the loyalty.

I didn't mention anything about how 'good' they were until people with large chips on their shoulders started pointing out how BAD they are... I would rather come on the site to read it as a free advertising site than I would come on to see posts and posts of people moaning!

Plus it is a fact at the moment that mobile phone capabilites are plateauing and so the longer tariffs will suit those who have got a handset that they enjoy using.

p.s jaymarsh, a bit of common sense ;-)
