I have received a letter from CPP, which I am dealing with as i am NOK/Executor for my mum who passed away over 4 years ago. Can anyone advise what i state as a reason for being mis-sold/considered for compensation? Thanks
Unfortunately the scheme of arrangement does not cover your mum as she passed away on or before 27 June 2013. Presumably CPP's records were not updated (perhaps if she passed away after exiting the product).
I would suggest contacting CPP directly (contact details are at cpp.co.uk) or the bank if the product was sold through them, and ask to whom you should direct a complaint, on behalf of your mum.0 -
Hi
Just wondered what the lead time was (if anyone knows) from sending the claim form back to receiving settlement?0 -
i have had my cpp letter, telling me that i bought a card protection policy and quoting its policy number, but i don't remember any of it.(i AM nearly 70). The section b in the letter asks me to explain why i want to be considered for compensation - what should i write? That i can't remember? something else?
thank you0 -

Try ringing the freephone number on the letter. They were able to tell me the dates and the particular bank involved, which helped me remember the circumstances. You will need to give them security details such as an old address.
Some have reported long hold times on the phone line. If it helps, I rang about 11am on a Saturday and got more or less straight through.0 -
1. I was not ripped off
2. I own shares in the banks , so I'd be paying myself.
The main principleof money saving is that you don't waste stuff, but in this CPP a lot of waste is going on in piles of mail and legal people being paid to process claims etc. And in the end it could be people like you and me who pay for this waste.
- I was not ripped off, I paid £10/year for 2 years then £20 once then when they put it up to £30 I phoned told them they were taking the P and cancelled.
- Paying myself , now I am getting mountains of CPP junk mail, but it is a waste to reclaim for me. My pension investments includes banks. so any compensation I get will come out of shareholder dividends. so I'd be taking cash from own dividends, plus paying processing costs.. So thats second reason why I won't be reclaiming0 -
My Mother was sold a policy by her bank even though she never used her credit card and had no understanding of what the policy was for. Sadly she died 18 months ago. As her executor, I have been sent forms to claim compensation even though I have explained the situation.
Do you think I should complete them? It is not a question of money, but the fact that she, as a vulnerable older person who very much trusted the workers in her bank, should have been sold something she did not need.

I received the CPP letter and had put it in the rubbish pile until I saw Martin on t.v. talking about it. I just assumed it was more junk mail. In all honesty I cant even remember taking out the policy, but will give it a go to get compensation because its wrong that organisations like these can scare people into paying unnecessary fees for worthless products.0

If you go back about eight posts, you'll see my reply to a similar query.0 -
Just sent my forms off today - stated in the box why you wanted to be considered that at the time I took out the policy I hadn't been advised that what I was paying for was something the provider ultimately covered. Also added I didn't feel I had the policy adequately explained.
If a claim is unsuccessful do we know whether there is any redress through the FSA/Ombudsman?0
