Agreed. When I rang the helpline they gave me the period of the policy, 2003-2006 (i.e. including the pre-2005 period not covered by the CPP redress scheme), and the bank involved.
Once armed with that info I wrote to the bank in respect of the pre-2005 period, claiming I was mis-sold the policy and informing them I was also claiming for 2005 onwards via the scheme. They may want more details but that's what I've done as a first step.0 -

Exactly what I did.
I found out that my policy was originally sold by National & Provincial, who then became Abbey who then became Santander. I hope all the records have remained intact!
I stumbled across this resource, which people may find useful when trying establish who now manages various bank & building society accounts, after mergers and takeovers.

I can't vouch for how accurate they are, but it seems quite useful.0 -
I'm not sure why you think you need to do this? Did you not get the claim form? Have you phoned the help line on the CPP Redress site? They will be able to tell you all about your policy. I think you're trying to over-complicate things.
Hello ... thanks for your comment..
I haven't got the bank statements of the payments I made to them so I'm not sure when they debited me and with what banks.
And by phoning them they might not be on the level... after all they weren't to begin with.0 -
I completed the CPP form and await a reply.
With regard to the pre 2005 payments, I no longer had all the paperwork, but I did remember that it was taken out on my NatWest Mastercard which I still have. A quick call to them, all I said was that I was hoping to apply for a refund of my pre-2005 premiums. I was expecting to have to complete a form or write a letter .... but no. Received a cheque within 2 weeks!!!
£90 premiums and over £90 interest (which is subject to tax). Cheque for £163!!! Was really very easy!!0 -

I suggest you just ring them and ask. They should tell you the dates and the bank. The redress scheme has been set up by CPP after consultation with the regulator, who fined them £10m for their misdeeds. I would expect them to be "on the level" from now on. It's a free call, nothing to lose.0 -
Hey guys, I called CPP hotline this morning having paid for both ID protection and Card Payment protection from 2007 to 2013. They claim I have 2 policies although neither are covered! The first policy I have (Identity Protection) was taken out with BT in 2007 & cancelled in 2011. The second policy I had (Card Protection) taken out with Barclaycard and thus they do not compensate for these providers. Should I contact both providers to claim compensation or am I wasting my time?0

hi there I have already received my ccp refund from 2005 as had written about it last year...although I still did vote yes to help others get redress :T
anyway had just written off from 1995 to 2004 as cpp said they would only pay from 2005 but happened to be reading through the posts and ppl have been advising to go to bank...so have sent a letter to Santander with all my bank statements showing each yearly payments for the period and have stated the reason why I feel I was missold so awaiting a decision
thanks for advise on forum as would have even thought of sending to bank0 -

Suspect that there are multiple phases to the claims process.
E.g. opening the letters, then looking at if there are any glaring errors, then data entry onto a system, then analysing 'claim', then yes or no and then paying out.0 -

Very likely but the previous poster had new claim forms pretty much by return of post (assuming second-class mail in both directions) which indicates a certain level of efficiency at least at this early stage.
There will be most likely be millions of claim forms to process in total (as there are 7 million potentially-affected policyholders).
The earliest date for paying compensation is set at 10 March (this Monday) by the scheme, so we shall have to see what happens.0
