I would suggest phoning and discussing directly with CPP - http://www.cppredressscheme.co.uk/contact_us.html
Thanks - I did try calling them and failed the security questions miserably. Guessed correctly that it was Egg, but I took the card out over 10 years ago, so couldn't pass the 'date I took the policy out' question.
So I'm guessing that filling in the form with the reason 'didn't even know I had paid CPP and was unaware what it was until you wrote to me' would be sufficient for a claim? Seems you don;t have to put any account info, just sign and return the form.
Fingers crossed. No idea how much I would have paid...0 -

They want to know why you believe the policy was mis-sold, so I don't think you're doing yourself any favours there. In fact, you're almost saying that you're not aware the policy was mis-sold.
As an aside, I'm not sure why you were asked those sorts of questions when you phoned up, as I wasn't.0 -

I don't think this is the place to brag about flouting the law. You're free to do whatever you deem morally acceptable, but not legally.0 -

If the policy was sold the same way as PPI was via Egg, then it was a pre-ticked box on the online application form. Surely not being aware I was paying for a scheme, then in the even of my identity being stolen, I wouldn't have even known I could claim? I literally had no idea this existed until I got sent a claim form. I don't think I ever spoke to a real person from Egg and I never received any correspondence other than via email from them, apart from my card of course... Due to the ancient Hotmail Janitor sweeping the account way back when I don't have anything going back that far anyway.
No idea why I was asked all those questions... They asked me to pass security even though I could give them DOB, policy number, address. But they couldn't talk to me because I couldn't remember the date I took out the card :huh:0 -

That is odd, as the reason I phoned them up was to find out who originally sold me the policy and when.
My comment was directed at your actual (or proposed?) answer to the questionnaire. I would have thought that saying you didn't know you had the policy or know you were paying the premiums aren't valid reasons for claiming you were mis-sold the policy (not least since they sent annual renewal letters and the payments for the policy would have shown on your bank or credit card statements). I think the question was clear about what they were asking and I don't think you've answered the question.0 -

With regard to the pre 2005 payments, I no longer had all the paperwork, but I did remember that it was taken out on my NatWest Mastercard which I still have. A quick call to them, all I said was that I was hoping to apply for a refund of my pre-2005 premiums. I was expecting to have to complete a form or write a letter .... but no. Received a cheque within 2 weeks!!!
£90 premiums and over £90 interest (which is subject to tax). Cheque for £163!!! Was really very easy!!
I am in a very similar position with the same provider, but had a very different experience on the phone. Can you let me know which number you contacted them on?
When I called, I explained I was looking to complain directly to them about the period prior to 2005, and asked for an address to write to. As soon as I mentioned CPP I was told that they had a special department for CPP enquiries. I was put on hold and put through to CPP directly, who I had already previously spent a fair amount of time talking to that morning.
I called Natwest back, and they again tried to put me through to CPP. I dialled the customer services number on the back of my card, but if there is a different number I should try I would be interested to have it.

Interesting, a week after sending off my completed claim form I've now received the 3 year renewal documents from CPP, are they having a laugh expecting me to renew. good job my card details had expired otherwise it would have been easy for them to take a another payment from me.
Perhaps they think they can legitimately take new money from us all?0 -

They can. They were in trouble for the way that they sold the policy, not for the benefits it contained. As I've mentioned previously, just because they were fined for mis-selling, it doesn't mean that all polices were mis-sold.0
