when claiming mis sold cpp how is compensation calculated is this separate from the 8% interest (or is the 8% interest the compensation)

I have been given an offer for refund of money paid + 8%, not sure if I should persue compensation on top of this for being deprived of this money!!

If you think you should be compensated more and are being deprived of money, then by all means continue to persue that (at the risk of ending up with nothing). I know what i would do...

Massive thanks for the replies, esp Jlwhite for providing the number to call. Phoned them and they have logged my complaint so will keep you posted on how I get on. It's only from 2003-2005, so won't be much money, but better in my pocket than theirs.
    Thanks again x

The 8% interest is all the "compensation" you will ever receive. The rest of the redress comprises a full refund of all insurance paid.

when my husband was diagnosed with cancer, we opened a joint account with yorkshire bank, he died 2 years later. i know we had key cover because they were sending me key fobs and stickers it was only when i was dealing with his finances afterwards that i realised we were paying £5 a month to cpp and cancelled it. i can't for the life of me remember the details of the policy because at the time my head was a shed, would it be worth me claiming? i have been sent a claim form.

If you've had a claim form then you don't need to remember any details as they are already on file. Just complete the form as honestly as you can and state your valid complaint reasons
  • Hi,

I received the CPP voting form and claim form and have read the guide to claiming CPP back. However I cannot remember why or exactly when I had CPP. All I remember is having a key fob with CPP on sometime between 2004 and 2007!

I'm not sure what to put on my claim form as the reason I'd like to be considered for compensation. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Many thanks,

I took out a CPP policy back in 1996 through Mint credit card, the policy was cancelled in 2009.

Am I right in thinking the CPP paperwork will only deal with the claim back to 2005?

if so, do I stand any redress against Mint?
    How/what do I do?

    yours confused (a little)
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

You have a right to make a claim against Mint, but no guarantee that they will agree and compensate you.

Write a letter to them, stating exactly what your complaint is and what you're seeking.
