Sending mine off today.
I said that my bank provides adequate cover against account fraud and therefore I didn't need it and I hadn't used any of benefits it may give and never registered any cards etc with them.
I don't even remember signing up for it. I've a feeling it was added to my Natwest account, during my activation of my card some 13 years ago.
I did write to them to cancel it and hadn't received a reply either.
I believe that if you make a claim, the policy is cancelled anyway.
I'll let people know how I get on, when I receive their response.0 -
I am exectutor for a relative who passed away December 2013. He's had the CPP letter, and I know its possible to claim, but can I, given I've no idea if it was actually mis-sold ?0

If you're asking an ethical question, the answer would be no. You cannot claim as you do not know if the policy was mis-sold or not. Remember that just because CPP were found guilty of mis-selling products, it doesn't necessarily mean that all products that were sold, were mis-sold.0 -
Hi,
I received a letter from CPP about the fact that I may be entitled to compensation.
However, while I do remember having a policy in the past (because I remember learning from the mistake and refusing to get one again) I can't for the life of me remember which card it was associated with and whichever card it was I closed down and no longer have any paperwork for.
Can I ask CPP to tell me the details? Or does it not matter? Can I just use one of the templates on the MoneySaving site without really knowing the detail of which card it's related to?
Thanks!0 -

Do you think it would be worth Executors in this position asking CPP or the bank for their records of the sale process, e.g. a recorded telephone call, if it exists? A long shot perhaps but one way the Executor could gather evidence?0 -

I rang the freephone number on the letter and they told me the bank involved and the period I held the policy.0 -

Thanks for CPP info. I have already filled the form in (23/02/14) and put my reply as :-
"I understand that I was miss-sold the policy originally."
Will this be considered acceptable or will I lose out?
Thanks,
Howard:o:(

Lose out? It's not a game show. They want to know the reasons why you think you were mis-sold, not why you think you should get compensation.
Read the letter they sent you; it gives at least two examples and the MSE article gives several others.0 -
