My CPP letter informs me my current Card Protection Policy will be cancelled if I claim. However although I did think, wrongly, that I needed the cover against financial loss I also wanted the "one-stop-shop" service for lost cards.... which I have used a couple of times and value it. Am in being disingenuous if I claim I was influenced by the insurance when in fact I am happy with the other benefits/service provided. I have had the policy since 1993 and have merely repeatedly renewed it since then.

Only you can decide if you were mis-sold the policy or not. If you're happy with the other protection the policy is providing and the premiums you're paying, then I would suggest you have no claim.
  • Yes Dave, you have just confirmed what my inner voice is telling me! Its obvious when I think about it and the letter makes it clear a claim should only be made if you bought the policy primarily because of the financial cover. Indeed CPP invite you to review all the other benefits that are provided. My hesitation was because Martin does not seem to draw attention to this when he urges people to consider a claim and only appears to suggests reasons to put in a claim ( as on ITV this morning). I had already decided I am happy with the service and then had this moment of doubt.
Doubt now gone............ no claim to be made. Thanks for the moral-hand-holding!

Do remember that you can complain this particular insurance was mis-sold and then look around for a cheaper option elsewhere which covers the service for lost cards only. If even one aspect of the insurance was mis-sold then surely you've overpaid?

You seem to have changed your tune somewhat? When I put forward a view like this I recollect some criticism of my intention to claim yet consider re-insuring to cover lost cards facility. Anyway not deterred I have sent off my claim and will await a response in due course, whereupon I will seek an alternative source to provide lost card facility - unless in fact some cunning marketing person (with access to the redress scheme details) approaches me once my cover has been cancelled.
  • Hi
    First post so BE Gentle!!

I have a CPP account and have received my letter about mis-selling, however it was started a long time ago approx 2006 and I have no clue how I got it or if it was combined with a Credit Card. I also have no recollection of how it was sold to me at the time therefore I do not know if I was mis-sold the product. Can anyone advise please??
    Many thanks

Just playing "devils advocate" and pointing out all the options. I'm not making any value judgements.

My earlier criticism was of attempts to turn the thread into an off topic discussion of what other insurance companies might offer as an alternative ...

I'd suggest reading the last several pages of this forum where this question has been asked and answered several times already. ;)

Has anyone sent back their form and been paid compensation yet if so how much?
  • Hi All,
I have joined CPP card guard and id protection in 2008 via my bank, but now CPP is only sending me claim form for the card protection and not for the id protection. I called them and they said because I did not take the id protection via some "Channel" i don't get any compensation. Is that happening to some of you and what shall I do?!

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.
