my bank sold me privacyguard after money was taken out on my cc(before I ever had the card delivered but that's another story). I paid £6.99 a month but then at some point they stopped taking the payments. No communication about it. I was with Lloyds at the time( now with TSB) but have had no paperwork from them. So is Privacyguard exempt from refund?weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0

If you've had no paperwork from them then I'd suggest you're not entitled to claim compensation.
I don't see PrivacyGuard mentioned in paragraph 1.3.1 of http://www.cppredressscheme.co.uk/Explanatory_Statement.pdf
Why not just give them a call anyway. You'll get an authoritative answer rather than a speculative one.

a second more successful google brought this up

I was definitely sold it after my cc had been cloned( or whatever) and it was a bit of a hard sell. So it looks like I may get that back. It also looks like Lloyds know this might happen as why else would they suddenly stop taking the monthly payments?weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0 -

So the Mail is saying it's not CPP but a different company, Affinion:The bank is understood to be drawing up a compensation package with the Financial Conduct Authority. Affinion is also talking to the regulator.
Sounds like a CPP-style scheme of arrangement will eventually be set up. Might be worth waiting to see if you are to be included in that?
It says Lloyds stopped selling Affinion products in May 2012, so this may be why your policy ceased.0 -
Thought I'd share my experiences. Received my CPP claim form yesterday, the 28th. Rang the freephone helpline this morning and got through to a helpful guy within one minute who confirmed what I'd suspected from my records, that the CPP policy was sold via a Virgin Money/MBNA credit card, and ran from 2003 to 2006.
Completed claim form in respect of the 2005-06 period with the two reasons for mis-selling (relating to pre- and post-notification reimbursement after loss/theft of card), posted today in the prepaid envelope.
Estimated claim value: £83.50 including interest net of tax
Also sent a letter direct to MBNA (with proof of posting) covering the 2003-04 period, simply asking for the premiums back on the CPP policy plus interest, due to my belief that I was mis-sold it, as per the template letter. Have read the thread from start to finish but will have to check it again to see how that card issuer is dealing with pre-2005 claims. (Barclaycard seem to be one of the most efficient judging by posts here.)
EDIT: At least one poster got a quick refund from MBNA after sending a letter re pre-2005 CPP, so that gives me hope.
Estimated claim value: £58 including interest net of tax
Incidentally while looking through old statements I also found a few PPI and Serious Illness Cover premiums relating to a Marbles card I took out in 2006. Will post in the appropriate thread regarding that.0 -

Think my late father might have had card protection through either his Barclays debit card or Barclaycard.
I can't find anything (his paperwork is a bit of a mess), but I wonderer if anyone knows how I might find out from Barclays.
(I am the legitimate executor of the estate, so would like to claim on that basis).
Many thanks0 -
silvermum - I would say the first step is to write to Barclays/Barclaycard asking them for details of any card-protection policies.
If it was a CPP policy and it is in scope for the scheme of arrangement, there should have been a claim form sent - or it will be sent imminently (mine came yesterday). Please note that the policy would not be in scope if your father passed away on or before 27 June 2013. Barclays/Barclaycard should refer you to the scheme of arrangement if it is applicable. You have until 30 August to make a claim under the scheme of arrangement so there is plenty of time.
If it was with Sentinel or another company, or if it was with CPP but not in scope, you will need to deal with Barclays/Barclaycard as it would not be covered by the scheme of arrangement.0
