Has anyone else had the claim form through today? There's a box saying "Why do you want to be considered for compensation?" Any ideas what should go in there. There are two reasons on the other side of the form saying "Why you may be entitled to compensation" - should I just copy those in?

Only if they actually apply to you.

Well, I think they apply to everyone - they are things about what made the plan itself invalid rather than personal things. One is about it covering you for payments after you've notified of lost card and the other is about the finer details of what you are covered for before you notify them.
  • I have just received the form and you have to state your reason for claim. What can you say other than you believe youw ere missold this in the first place.

Is there a template answer for this?

Same here. I'd thought this is the whole reason for the claim...that we were mis-sold a product, no? I'm a bit stumped what to reply with.

Yes, especially baffling when they are the ones that wrote and said it was missold in the first place - my main reason for thinking it was missold is because they told me it was!

I also received my 2nd form to-day, and don't know what to reply in the box.
I renewed my Barclaycard, in 2008 and was told to take out Identity theft protection, as I would not be covered if my card was used by someone stealing my Identity. Was given CPP's number phoned them and took out the policy.
I then found out I need not have taken it out as my Card hold was liable anyway, so cancelled CPP last year.

    Will I get compensation?

I thought once we all signed and it went to court, that was it and we would get compensated.

Advice needed what to write in the box.?

    Re: Reasons for claiming

This is pretty much a technicality of the process. Remember that the FSA deemed these policies to have been missold on the basis of a number of specific issues.

However as an individual you might personally not have been missold at all if, for example, you bought the policy purely on the basis of a benefit that the policy gave and that the FSA didn't have any issue with.

Of course, with an organised redress scheme like this the aspects that were deemed unacceptable are widely known and so it is now up to you whether you believe that any of those may have swayed you into purchasing the policy and thus, select which ones are applicable and you will be entitled to a refund.
  • Don't know if this the right place for this question.

I have paid for Sentinel cover for credit cards, keys etc. does this come under the same umbrella as CPP and can I reclaim for it?
  • I've been receiving letters about compensation from CPP for a while now. I bought the policy between 2000 and 2001 I think but have no dates, I just know it was before the end of 2001. The most recent letter I've received says that I can submit a claim for compensation but only for payments made after 14 January 2005.

Do I need to make a separate complaint to the bank for my payments before 2005 since CPP say they won't pay out for those? The MSE article says that my complaint should go through CPP since the policy was sold before 2005 but still active after this date but this letter looks like it will ignore the majority of my payments as I think I cancelled it in 2006 when the price shot up and they tried to get me to take identy theft protection as well.

Ironically, I worked for Nationwide when I took the policy out! They had everyone duped, even their own employees!
