  • I have a CPP policy taken out over 3 years (single payment) £89 but have not received any letters from CPP so I sent letter to my bank RBS, they have replied indicating I do not qualify for PPI refund on my NATWEST Credit Card, yes you have read it correctly, they obviously did not read my claim letter correctly, first I Have an RBS Credit Card not NATWEST & I claimed about CPP not PPI so I have written to them again and await reply. I decided to phone CPP and they have informed me the I did not receive any letters from them as my policy was taken out in June 2011 and claims against CPP on policies after Jan 2011 do not qualify for any refund and I need to take the matter up directly with RBS, can anyone advise as I Appear to be going round in circles
    Many thanks

  • This is my first time, so please excuse me for any mistakes. I call the number on the site and was told that I bought CPP from Barclays in 2010 and therefore not missold. Is that correct? Can anybody enlighten me pleas?
  • Hi there, does anyone know what will happen if you are due a refund but have moved addresses? How will the CPP know to contact you at a different address...?

They won't know your new address unless you tell them. I wouldn't rely on them or anyone else attempting to track you down if you've moved house and previously cancelled your policy (and therefore had no reason to update them with the new address).

I complained to MBNA about CPP last year as I was sold it through them. I never received a letter regarding CPP in November even though it seemed everyone would.

I've just phoned the CPP redress scheme only to be told that I am not due any compensation because as the Identity Protection wasn't sold over the phone that I'm not eligible. I thought it was basically being refunded to everyone who had the "protection" whether it was missold or not?

    Not happy.

    Hi All,

I have a quick question, I had CPP years ago, I think it was on my Barclaycard and automatically renewed until I figured out I could cancel it. I'm sure it was pre-2005 and pretty sure it was on my Barclaycard. So who do I complain to?

    Thanks

    Naomi

If it was on a Barclaycard and pre-2005 you might be similar to me in that I had a Sentinel Protection Policy automatically added to my Barclaycard account when I took the card out in 1995 and money was taken regularly until I cancelled the policy circa 2010

It was only when I queried what the payments covered that I realised what it actually entailed, that it wasn't worth having and that all the details they held were out of date including addresses, persons/cards covered etc

I wrote to Barclaycard recently to see if there was a record of whether I had actively applied for this policy or whether it was practice at the time to add it automatically
Their reply was along the lines that they couldn't find any details of the policy and that they were passing my details onto the body dealing with CPP compensation

I wrote back with further details, pointing out it was Sentinel and pre-2005 therefore it was unlikely that they had contacted the right body.
I have also contacted Sentinel a couple of times without response

I'm awaiting a reply before considering whether or not to pursue it further or put it down to my own fault in not querying what the annual payments were for

Ok wrote a letter to Santander explaining the above and received multiple copies of the same reply posted over different dates LOL.

Santander say the issue is with CPP and they will forward on the details to them. <Don't think so!>

It was Abbey who sold me the CPP and NOT CPP as it was the teller in Abbey that brought the whole scheme to my attention back in 1993.

Waiting to hear what's next..although I do feel that this could be a runaround scenario in the making..

All I want is the compensation from 1993 - 2005 as the CPP redress will take care of the 2005 - 2008 era.

Well to my surprise I received a cheque for the the 2004 - 2008 era but, I'm still pressing for Santander to cough up from the 1993 - 2004 era of CCP via the Financial Ombudsman Service. Watch this space..6 of the 8 week time period has past and nothing yet..

Has anyone else had a policy through M&S Cardsafe? I had one from the early 90's but not sure who to contact. I did try M&S bank but despite talking to several different departments couldn't get an answer.
  • Hi Busylizzie

I took out my policy with M&S Cardsafe in 1991. Wrote to M&S Bank and they wrote back and said for CPP had sold me my policy. Have complained to CPP and they wrote back to say they upheld my complaint pre 2004, but they weren't covered by industry standards. So have today sent form off to ombudsman.

I suggest to write to M&S Bank with policy number first (use MSE template) and they should advise you of the next step.
