  • When and how do we find out the result of the vote?
It's happening right now isn't it?

Can you still be considered for compensation even though you have not returned voting form?

I've been keeping check on CPP's corporate site and this announcement got posted in their regulatory announcements page today, quote "98% of votes were in favour of the Scheme". I suggest it well worth reading the full announcement.

If I understand it correctly the very high response has prompted that they also increase their cost provision for meeting expected claims. I choose to read into that they are taking their responsibility in this seriously (heck, from experience they know the scope for record fining if they don't). At this stage no point trying to cut corners as they know they'll be writing the year off as a bad one anyway...
  • Hi,

I am new to the forum. I am busy trying to figure out if I am entitled to compensation for a package account. So hopefully someone can tell me yes or no. I was told that I had to pay the £12.99 a month account charge in order to get a debit card otherwise the only other option for a free account for a cash card. It was only a few years later that I was even told my account offered me free insurance. Do I qualify?

    Thanks.
  • Had CPP via Girobank 1993 - 2005 then cancelled it!
Complained to CPP and Santander initially. Both blamed each other and said they would not pay out !!! Then I wrote to the Financial Ombudsman Service, toady they have said Santander will be refunding ALL premiums plus 8% interest and a £25 compensation for taking so long to acknowledge they were liable.
Worth using the FOS if no success with banks. Strangely my sister and I claimed at the same time from the same bank being sold CPP at the same time and cancelled around the same time. She was immediately paid out by Santander, but strangely I was not. No consistency in dealing with payouts.
  • My brother had a policy with CPP for a number of years. Sadly he died in July 2013. I am Executor of his Estate.

Can I reclaim on behalf of his estate? Do I need to do anything? I did inform CPP of his death and cancelled the policy but the letters have still arrived in his name.
  • Taken from the MSE announcement.

"Court approval will mean everyone who was mis-sold a card protection or identity protection policy in 2005 or later will automatically be entitled to their money back. The same will apply to those who renewed a mis-sold policy in 2005 or later."

I've had mine since 1993, will I get a payout from then, or only from 2005. I voted "yes"
  • hi, just wanted to report on here that I had the letters regarding mis sold CCP and I returned the voting papers obviously voting yes. I read on Friday that the vote was positive and so looked forward to getting a letter asking if I wanted to claim. However! yesterday I actually received a cheque for £331 from Barclays (with whom I had the CCP). Was really chuffed. makes a nice change not to have to fight for what's due

I had CPP Identity protection and had complained to them last year when it emerged that compensation was due to those who were missold. That was nearly a year ago. I still have all my documentation. I am sure it was sold though MBNA when I took out a Virgin credit card. I received a couple of letters last year saying they were still investigating my case. I have yet to receive any correspondence from them regarding the recent vote.

Surely if you were missold you were missold. I feel that CPP saying that the bank isn't taking part in the scheme is a load of nonsense as ultimately it is their product that was at fault.
