I dropped a letter into Barclays last week regarding CPP on an account that was closed some 7 years ago. I had no account number to give them, I just gave name, DOB and the address I was living at the time the account was closed. This morning I had a cheque delivered in the post for £110!
Am thrilled at how easy it was and I was only really expecting £50 or so. It really was as easy as that.
Anyone thinking that it will be a hassle - it was so simple.0 -
Hi, I had CPP on some credit cards back around 2006-2010. However, I have moved house since then. Now that letters are being sent out for miss selling of CPP will it go to the address where I originally had the cards registered at?
Thanks0 -
I got the original letter (to my old address) only a few weeks ago as my old flatmate gave me all my old mail. I was too late to vote but glad it has been approved.
I have no idea when or what card was used to pay for this protection and I have no paperwork. I presume the claim is processed automatically as I have no paperwork to give them.
They have my last address and I only lived there since 2010 so I presume it was for a credit card I had taken out in the last 4 years.
I've now changed my address by phone to them but didn't ask any other details.0 -
Just thought i would let you know my experience reclaiming cpp from pre 2005.I took out cpp in 1998 not knowing any different thought you had to have it, paid it until 2010 when it got so expensive i cancelled it.On receiving notification that it was probably mis sold i voted etc and am awaiting post 2005 payment. When reading this web site i found i could reclaim pre 2005 through my bank, i downloaded the template letter, filled it in and sent it to Santander, approx a week later received an offer of all my payments upto 2005 plus interest, accepted and within two days of returning the signed form my money was in my account, i have to say how impressed i was with Santander, no quibble just a refund, result :T and what a great web site this is,:)0

That's great to hear of your success with Santander. HSBC are sending me a claim form for my policy pre-2005 so finger's crossed it is handled in a equally positive manner.
Have any other HSBC customers here had any success with redress for their pre-2005 cover?
Interestingly, they did advise me that the very action of me submitting a claim to them would immediately invalidate my current cover - regardless of whether the claim was upheld or not.0 -

If it was on a Barclaycard and pre-2005 you might be similar to me in that I had a Sentinel Protection Policy automatically added to my Barclaycard account when I took the card out in 1995 and money was taken regularly until I cancelled the policy circa 2010
It was only when I queried what the payments covered that I realised what it actually entailed, that it wasn't worth having and that all the details they held were out of date including addresses, persons/cards covered etc
I wrote to Barclaycard recently to see if there was a record of whether I had actively applied for this policy or whether it was practice at the time to add it automatically
Their reply was along the lines that they couldn't find any details of the policy and that they were passing my details onto the body dealing with CPP compensation
I wrote back with further details, pointing out it was Sentinel and pre-2005 therefore it was unlikely that they had contacted the right body.
I have also contacted Sentinel a couple of times without response
I'm awaiting a reply before considering whether or not to pursue it further or put it down to my own fault in not querying what the annual payments were for
After pushing this,Barclaycard have refunded £600 which was the premiums plus 8% interest0 -
I had a CPP policy from 1999 to 2013. Having had no correspondence regarding any claim I phoned the CPP Redress line. I have been told that as my product was arranged via Laser UK Creation Financial Services and they have decided not to participating in the scheme.
I've never heard of these people? I have been told I should contact them direct. Has anyone else has a similar issue? and/or any luck?
any advice greatfully received!0 -
Anyone else been told wrongly that they are dead when making a CPP claim?Trying to be good:A... not too good:naughty:... just a bit good!;)0
