I see CPP's corporate site has now been updated with this new announcement on their regulatory announcements page today, including the statement...

"CPPGroup Plc ("CPP" or the "Group") confirms that the High Court has today sanctioned the Scheme of Arrangement ("Scheme") to review claims and, where appropriate, pay redress to customers. The Scheme will become effective on or around 31 January 2014, when the Court order sanctioning the Scheme is filed at Companies House."

    Yay! :T

Hi folks, looking for advice, I was not contacted by CPP although had multi products with them for years so,phoned them. They said it was an oversight and they'd post to me. They did but, with the excuse that I am dead(news to me and I think I may have noticed if I was...)and a voting form which I filled out and sent in. Just wondering if I should chase them further perhaps thru the Ombudsman as apparently they advised other parties of my fictitious demise so who knows what issues they may have caused me further down the line.
    Any advice appreciated.

    Hi,

I received all of the CCP letters and voted yes, but I dont have a clue when I was mis sold anything????

I reclaimed some PPI from an old credit card about 18 months ago, but i dont think I am owed anything else, but since getting these letters I am worried I have paid without even noticing it.

Any advice on how I can check this???

    thanks.

ps I used to bank solely with Barclays and had a barclaycard.

Does anyone have any advertising literature for card protection sold by CPP under the 'HSBC CardGuard' banner in/around 1998? To be honest, anything before 2005 would be useful.

I am keen to see if the policy I bought then may have been missold i.e. overstating of requirement, nugatory cover etc but have long since thrown the material away.
  • Hello

I'm in the same boat as user 'Block'...I've received all the letters from CPP saying I was a victim of mis-selling, and I voted yes. I see that we shoudl receive claim forms which we must complete.

However I have absolutely no idea what this is in relation to? I've had a number of different cards in the past, including Egg and HSBC. I tried the PPI reclaim with both. Never heard back from Egg and HSBC wrote (politely) to tell me I never had PPI with them. :-)

How should I complete the form if I have no idea what card/account it's relating to, and how much I'm owed?

    Thanks

    Hi Zoe,

To clarify, this is about card protection plans offered by CPP Ltd, not payment protection insurance.

That aside, one of the prime purposes behind this claim scheme is to formalise the refunds. In particularly, the decision has already been made that the protection plans were missold and you will not have to prove this. As a point of formality you may be required to tick a box or something to confirm the claim of misselling but that'll be straightforward.

As part of the scheme formalities I do not believe you will have to prove how much is owed to you - that responsibility will fall to CPP Ltd because they know how much you've paid them, how much they've paid out (if anything) and how much interest is required. The fact that you didn't even know you had this protection plan in place is one of the reasons why some of the plans have been deemed to be missold.

I'd just sit back if I were you and not worry about how to fill the form in - I think you will be surprised to find how straightforward it will be.
  • Thanks so much thats really helpful! I'm just crossing my fingers that it's a nice little windfall!

    Thanks again
  • We had all the letters, but we're not sure if it was our hsbc credit card or old virgin/mbna (paid off years ago) or it could be both?! Do we need to find out the ins and outs or will they already know? Also hoping for a nice little windfall :)

    Hi All,

I have a quick question, I had CPP years ago, I think it was on my Barclaycard and automatically renewed until I figured out I could cancel it. I'm sure it was pre-2005 and pretty sure it was on my Barclaycard. So who do I complain to?

    Thanks
