I used the template and received a cheque refunding all of my payments I had made over about 4 years. Thank You MSE for the advice and template

I have a quick question: I was contacted by CPP that I qualified for a refund. A few months and some forms later they sent me a cheque for £232. So far, so good. I was just happy to get the money!
I've just realised ...
1. How did they calculate what they owe me? Is the calculation fixed based on the premium customers paid plus a certain interest rate, or does the bank make up its own numbers?
2. I only just deposited the cheque a few days ago. If it turns out my calculations are different from theirs, can I still claim the outstanding amount?
Thanks in advance for an advice.0 -
I applied for a refund of Sentinel Gold payments using the CPP letter, (amended a little) and received a cheque last week.:j0

I have just phoned CPP, and after holding on for 15 minutes, spoke to an advisor.
He located my details and told me that as I had taken out the policy through Sainsbury's Bank credit card, they could not help me.
I asked for a form anyway, and he said he couldn't send me a form as the Sainsbury's connection invalidated my claim.
Even though all correspondence was with CPP, and my direct debits were to CPP.
Is this right?(I just lurve spiders!)

Thanks MSE! :j
I threw my CPP letter away as I though it was junk. After seeing on here about claiming, I phoned and got a new letter sent. A quick cut/paste or wording (from here) and I got a cheque for £82! Not a massive amount compared to others, but £82 I would not have had otherwise!
RESULT!:D:D

So I received a letter some months ago stating that i was entitled to a repayment and that CPP would be in touch. Nothing came and i forgot about it.
Listening to the news this morning and having received the useful email from MSE I decided to login onto the CPP website and register to be sent a form.
I could not believe that the form starts off by saying:
"If you have lost the form(s) we have previously sent to you, or have not received it for some reason, and would like us to send you another copy, please enter your details below."
I then look down the form only to read that you MUST enter in the SOA number, an explanation is given as follows:
"(You can find your Unique Reference Number in the top right corner of the letters we have previously sent to you)"
Now call me cynical but if I have lost the letter how will I have the SOA number??????0 -
gtec, Yep, just did exactly the same, then. I spent an hour holding on the phone only to be cut off. I realise its abit late in the day .I wish I had understood earlier what all this meant.I thought it was junk mail and binned it.0

Hi Gtec
I totally agree, daft or what!! I suppose they're assuming you have some correspondence regarding your policy in general that it'll be on. I've only received the voting correspondence and not the reclaim forms, the number is on there if you still have it?
I'm currently on hold to them, 28 minutes so far. I've requested the forms online but just realised they may not have my address correct as I never received the forms this year, or the reminder. Even if you have your SOA number there seems no way to check if your correspondence details are correct!!
Try calling them and hopefully they'll find your details via your address...I'd like to tell you they can, but I'm still on hold!! lol
Hopefully MSE can get the scheme extended. It seems ridiculous that PPI claims seem to have been going on for years, and yet CPP has a much shorter deadline.
No idea if I'll get my forms in time, and suppose it is my own fault, but it's the principle of them not running their scheme properly let alone the original mis-selling. I only knew I had it cos they sent me a renewal letter a couple of years ago, I phoned and said I had no idea I had it and wanted to complain and to cancel. I thought it was part of the credit card company's policy and it was them that was taking it, not CPP. They were really stroppy on the phone, blamed me for not realising, and I said they had no right to a)mis-sell me something, and b)renew it without even contacting me.
That was a few years ago. Hopefully I'll get through today and receive the forms in time. Who knows....it's now been 34 minutes on hold!!

On receiving a letter back in August 2013 I moved address fir medical reasons and firgot about it . Never got claim firm . On ringjng the number today I've waited 1 hour on hold to then be cut off . I'm now trying again . Its disgusting the online request does not give you option for change of address . . My wife is recovering cancer the reason I forgot about it until the news this morning . About deadline Saturday . They don't answer phones so where do I stand .its unfair . . Still waiting second attempt 10 minutes later still on hold ,0
