No Moneyineptitude just amused by your comment that something this old should have been sorted by now.

The poster concerned returns to the thread only very rarely and appears to be making no headway simply because he hasn't made a complaint.

Slightly different to your own acknowledged and frustrating situation

    CPP surpass themselves.
    Yet another letter this morning.
    Apology - errr no!
    Cheque enclosed - err no!
It has taken 9 days to advise me that a thorough investigation will take place.

I suspect that we are following a procedure designed for those who have misplaced their cheques and have requested that another is issued. The letter also reads as though I have now received my cheque and that I was simply complaining about the length of time that it took. I have signed thousands of letters in my working life but if it had been prepared by someone else I would want to ensure that the facts contained therein were accurate.

Since the refund scheme will be wound up next month, it would be wise to assume that many of the people employed by the scheme are temporary workers. It therefore should not surprise when any out-of-the-ordinary complaint goes awry.

I'm certain you'll doubtless get your money (eventually).

    This may help some.....
Having read the advice on MSE i contacted CPP directly.
They informed me that although I'd had a policy with them, they didn't sell it to me directly. They said they'd send a letter confirming this. When the letter arrived it advised me to contact Tesco Bank (i'd forgotten which card had the CPP) and gave me all the account numbers I needed to claim from Tesco Bank, a few phone calls later and £400 landed in my current account.

I have had CPP protection for over ten years. I did not try to work out when I started, how much I had paid, etc. I simply filled in the form as suggested, assuming that they would have the records. I have just received a cheque for £260!
    Thank you!

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

Well I think I had better do the lottery tonight! I have just received my cheque for £117.72 for which I am truly grateful, just really sad that it has taken over 7 months for it to be sorted.

Good luck to the rest of you. Hurry up and get your claims in.

I sent a claim to my Bank (NatWest) but was rejected on the score that I had had the opportunity each year before renewal to cancel my policy as I would have been sent a renewal notice with the option of cancelling.

I "joined" in 2010 in July and each year since then the annual premium, GBP 83.99, has been charged automatically to my (NatWest) credit card. I have never received any renewal reminder or any communication giving an option to cancel.

NatWest did make me an ex gratia payment in respect of the inordinately large cost of the original phone call, a premium number, to which I was unknowingly transferred.

In reply to my claim they recommended I should write to CPP to cancel my policy - this I had already done, dated 21st May,using the contact address on their website. They recommended me in addition to send an e-mail to the address they then gave me. I did this as well, dated 29th May,
sending as an attachment a copy of the letter I had already sent.

I have had no reaction from CPP, and my credit card has again been charged with the annual premium.

I have again written to Natwest telling them this and saying that as their people got me into this situation, they should now get me out of it.

There the matter stands ,sorry for the length of my diatribe! It will be a day or two before I can expect a reply from NatWest. In the meantime any advice anyone can give me would be welcome.
