Hi,
Just wondering if after receiving their CPP cheque anyone has persued a claim with their bank/building society/financial provider for CPP premiums pre-2005 and been successful?
Yes, I originally took out a policy with Egg Card. They were later taken over by Barclay Card. I sent them a claim for the period before 2005, when in fact it was still Egg. I have just received their letter with payment of the claim, took about 6 weeks I think. All in all I have now received around £ 700.00 from 3 post 2005 claims, through the CPP claim processing scheme, and 1 pre 2005, as described above. Now just waiting for M&S, hopefully the same favourable result. Good luck to all claimants!0 -
Hi there KF19
You should receive back what you actually paid of CPP.The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I got my pre 2005 refund from NatWest. They don't make it easy, you can't do it online or over the phone - you have to write a letter to an address in Essex.
But it arrived fairly promptly after I sent the letter.
I sent a letter to my branch of Natwest in London about 10 weeks ago, they did not bother to reply.
What was the address you sent your letter to? Or shall I go to the Ombudsman?
Thanks a lot for any help.0 -

Little point in going to the Ombudsman at this stage...0 -
Hi, I wonder if anyone can help? I took out a policy in 1997 and cancelled it at the end of 2012. I didn't receive a letter and have phoned CPP Redress scheme and they said that I bought the policy through Columbus Travel and therefore wasn't eligible. I don't remember buying it through Columbus Travel and all the paperwork I still have says cpp on it. Has anyone had the same experience or still managed to claim? If so, should I try to claim from Columbus?
Thanks so much.0 -

Absolutely! You are right. Such a silly mistake.
That branch was closed some time ago and I was moved to another branch. While filling the form I used the address from 2004!
Hope this helps someone - check the address.
So.. shall I send it first class or recorded?
Thanks a lot!0 -

I doubt you'll have much success with this. Unlike banks, "Columbus Travel" (if they are still trading) won't have been regulated for insurance sales in 1997 and won't have to consider your complaint.
The CPP refund scheme only covers the period post 2005.0 -
I claimed for compensation on two policies, identity protection and a credit card protection sold by egg a few years ago. From the details I received informing me that I had the right to compensation both were covered by the scheme. However I have just received my cheque for £74.63 which was based on payment of premiums paid of only £49.00 after 2005 (info sent back to me with cheque).
Now I know that I have paid in excess of £500 over the last 7-8years for these two policies and was wondering if anyone else had been given similar erroneous payment details?
I shall be phoning tomorrow to ask the administrator how he came to this decision, when they have all my payments to date at hand. The cycinc inside me thinks that they know what they are doing.
Maybe if I had used the templates here, the cheque would have been bigger! I will post an update later.0 -

However, since these insurances were normally only a small monthly fee I think it unlikely you could have paid over £500 since 2006.
If you ring, you won't be speaking to any "administrator" of the scheme-it'll be simply a call centre operator who will only be able to see what CPP have recorded that you paid.0
