It has at times not read like one given the manner in which you have spoken to people. I'm sure you're trying to help - why else would you have contributed nearly 10% of the posts to the Internet's most active forum thread on the subject - but speaking for no one other than myself of course your tone has been anything but endearing and far from what I would consider to be a discussion.0

It is also my experience that HSBC are extremely dismissive of claims.
I would also like to know if anyone out there has had any redress from them.0 -
My complaint was made directly to CPP, if that's any help. Dealt with really quickly!!!0

Thank you MSE, I used your template, filled in all the forms CPP sent to me and received a cheque for £115.00. (Policy missold on a RBS credit card)0

Using the templates here on MSE I sent a letter to the HSBC to reclaim my pre 2005 HSBC CardGaurd payments which HSBC have responded to saying they are unable to uphold my complaint.
From reading other peoples comments in this thread this just looks to be a standardized letter response and not one which was personalized to the points I made in my original letter.
Here is the letter I received from the HSBC:

Does anyone have pre 2005 HSBC CardGaurd letters as I am struggling to find mine or documents for the policy pre 2005?0 -
My hubby is going through the redress at the moment. He called up for the form as he didn't spot it in the post. Anyway that's with CPP now.
Weirdly yesterday he received a renewel letter from them even though he called them a few years ago cancelling the policy (not sure when but maybe 2011 after being made redundant). He's not received any renewels after cancelling until now which is within days of calling CPP to ask a separate question. He's going to call them after the bank holiday to make a separate complaint that they didn't cancel the policy when specifically asked. He knows he hasn't received renewls from them in the last few years as all the cards listed on the policy he doesn't have anymore as he changed banks.
Fingers crossed they can find a record of his call and they'll refund the last few years payment. At least we can expect the 2005-2011 payments back from the redress. That just leaves the 1996-2005 to attempt to get from HSBC.0 -
I have the CPP form to fill in but nowhere have they said which card it relates to. I have no recollection of having bought whatever the protection scheme was - so how do I know what my complaint should be? Pot luck? Fill in all the possible reasons? Anyone able to help?0

If they've sent you the form, then they know the card/s it relates to. Just follow Martin's templates and send it back. That's what I did and I just got a cheque for £730.01. Good luck!!!0

The advice from Martin Lewis on how to complete the claim forms is very helpful, but I'm looking for advice in relation to one aspect. Its suggested that you choose to include one reason for the mis-selling but my policy covered me for both cover up to £5K for fraudulent card use prior to notifying CPP and cover up to £100K after notifying CPP, subject to both being reported to CPP within 24 hours of discovery. Should I not just state both reasons as both were included in the policy? Thanks.0

I've not seen a single success story for pre-2005 HSBC claims. I've seen many relating to Santander and Natwest however.
I got my pre 2005 refund from NatWest. They don't make it easy, you can't do it online or over the phone - you have to write a letter to an address in Essex.
But it arrived fairly promptly after I sent the letter.0
