  • Sent the forms to CPP a couple of months ago, understood I would hear by Sept, two weeks ago received cheque for £369!!
I had both card protection and ID cover but was gobsmacked at the size of the compensation, and how little work it took to get it. Result!! :j

I am not sure how to do this but here goes My problem is that I have the letter from CPP but actually I am not sure which card it is about I phoned them but they said they were not allowed to give me any advice about how to reply so now I have absolutely no idea what to say about why i think I am claiming Help!! He did say only one sentence would be enough and that it did not need to be too detailed but I really am at a loss and would appreciate any advice Thanks in advance

I have had the good fortune to actually find some correspondence (almost 7 years old) relating to what I was apparently mis-sold. Ironically it was the letter the company sent me after I had cancelled my policy, in which they set out its supposed benefits. At the top of the list are two items that exactly match two reasons given in the CPP letter (which are "up to £100,000 insurance against fraudulant card use after I notified them" and "up to £5,000 insurance against fraudulant card use before I notified them".

Possibly I am overthinking this, but is everyone's letter custom written to actually include the specific reasons for the compensation without actually making this clear to people? Take a look at the section "Why you may be entitled to a refund" - you may only have to write back to them repeating the stated reasons.

Do you, or anyone else, have proof (i.e. statements) of the payments going out to CPP?

I've just been on the phone with CPP (extremely friendly and helpful, for which I'm grateful) regarding my two policies with them, one was 00-06 and the other 03-06, so I can send off my two forms to them for the 05-06 policies, I have to write to the two different banks in question about the 00-05 and 03-05 part of the policies.

One of those is....HSBC! I don't have the paper statements any more (I can't imagine many do, 14 years worth of paper statements!!!) and talking to them over the phone, they weren't able to access anything before 2005.

So, to those who have written to HSBC about a pre-2005 CPP policy, presumably with the help of the MSE template, have you had any evidence like statements, to back up your claim? CPP were able to tell me exactly how much I'd paid out each year and I know which account it relates to. I don't know if there's a way to 'log in' with CPP to view past statements, or whether CPP can send them (FoC natch!) but I don't see how else we can back up our claim.

  • The claim paperwork stated the account number which matched my card policy.

Yes, you are right. There is a copy of the claims letter stating the reasons why you may be entitled to a refund, in the following link.
The wording is key, this is why we were mis-sold.

  • Hello

Just received a cheque for £140, a month after completing the Cpp reclaim scheme form sent in the post.

This was my CPP premiums from 2005 - 2009 when I cancelled my Barclays policy, plus 8% interest (minus 20% tax on the interest).

I used the MSE advice on how to fill in the form and am now going to try to reclaim the policy premiums from 1997 - 2005 when I also had the same policy.

In answer to a coupe of other queries on this forum:

when I phoned the scheme processing helpline they confirmed who my policy was with and the exact dates I had had it for.

There is no problem claiming for an old policy you have since cancelled as mine finished in 2009.

You can still claim for pre-2005 policy premiums yourself direct to the provider. I'm going to use the advice/templates from MSE again.

Thanks MSE and forumites who left their experiences here :)
  • Hi all
A great big thank you to the MSE team. I have today received a cheque for 86.98. I nearly didn't fill in my form and once again it was due to the good work of Martin and the Team. Thanks guys and all of you reading this do as Martin says - fill in the form - sit back wait good luck.
