Have received a cheque for payments made in 2004-2005 but the policy activated in 1997. As CPP were not regulated then they are upholding my complaint but not refunding payments made.
Have contacted FOS for advice.
Thanks for your really useful templates.0 -
In addition to the reasons given on this site for misselling I have another and wondering if it's worth mentioning?
Basically I think I was sold my CPP policy through my bank (Alliance & Leicester) after I reported my debit card stolen when I was attacked and mugged. I don't really recall much of the conversation (it was 2006) but I had never heard of CPP until then and the impression I was given was that this was a necessity to have this policy to register my cards in case they were stolen again.
Finally, after automatically renewing the policy every year I wised up to the fact it was money I didn't need to be spending and cancelled in 2012. I feel like I was taken advantage of to take out the policy at a vulnerable time.
Is it worth mentioning this at all in my letter or will it just complicate things?
Thanks for any help people can give.0 -
Many thanks to the team. Following your guidance, I completed the Compensation Claim Form 20th March and received a cheque for £148.85 24th April. Without your help, I doubt that I should have even have known that I was entitled to a refund.0

I sent mine off on the 6th March, I haven't heard anything yet, but the £6.99 payment never came off my credit card, which was due around the 12th of March, or this month, so I assume, they have received my forms and it must be cancelled.
Do people think I should have heard something either way by now?0 -
Hi
i have just found a sticker stating barclaycard protection with a policy number inside an old cheque book holder, also found a key tag from barclays.
I do remember paying for this on my credit card and i remember cancelling my policy sometime later ,only thing is i dont remember how far back i took out the policy might be from 1999/2000 or earlier and i do not remember the date i cancelled it.
I have had no claim form from barclays or CPP , so should i make a claim directly to the bank ?
Any advice please ????0 -

If you have the policy number CPP can tell you the dates from beginning and to when you cancelled.
You could send in your complaint to Barclays if it falls before 2005.Light travels faster than sound.
This is why some people seem as bright until you hear them.0 -
I have had CPP protection since 2006. I got a letter from Nationwide after applying for a credit card. I think I just phoned the number on the letter. All cards, passports, driving licences were registered with them for all the family on one policy. I am assuming that the claims are for the premiums paid for the last 7-8 years? or can I claim for cards and the other items?
I have noticed I think I can claim on both the policy covering me for £100,000 and cover up to £5000. Which is the best way to go? Also do I say my Bank or my card issuer is responsible for transactions. I had bank cards and credit cards on the CPP form!
Also do I need to just fill in the claim form from CPP or do I have to do the Card Protection Claim Letter on the MSE web site as well?
Please help really confused!0 -
Forgot to ask in last post. My policy runs till 2015 should I cancel my policy now before I claim or after I receive any conpensaton?
Please advise0 -
Really appreciate the advice. Completed the claim form and just received a cheque for £200. Had no idea I was eligible, and wouldn't have bothered if I hadn't found this article.0
