  • i have received the CPP letter requesting i submit my claim but i am unsure which template to use as i have no record of the original policy.
i have asked the processing team for a copy but they could not help apart from informing me it was for an MBNA card ( surprise ).
i contacted MBNA who have told me to contact the CPP process team.
i am now going dizzy, does anyone have any suggestions regarding which template i should use......

My husband sadly died unexpectedly last October. His financial affairs were complicated and messy. A letter arrived shortly after regarding CPP but I could find nothing related to them except a key fob. I rang them and was asked to send a copy of the death certificate and the letters of administration and that upon receipt his details would be transferred into my name. My documents were returned duly addressed to me. I then received a form to complete, read all of the information here and since I had no idea (other than that my husband would definitely not have taken something like this on unless he was advised that it was mandatory for some reason) to which financial institution it related. So I rang them again for their advice. I was told simply to return the form advising that it was in regard to my late husband.
I was initially delighted to receive a cheque for £117.72, although I have absolutely no idea whether this is a fair settlement because I still don't know to what it relates.
As I was completing the bank paying in slip I noticed that the cheque was made payable to my deceased husband. I rang and after the normal front line customer service "please return the cheque along with death certificate etc. etc." I asked to speak to the manager and was advised that this was their normal procedure i.e. to send the cheque made out to the deceased, despite having had all of the proof of the situation, so that it could be returned with a covering letter requesting that the payee's name be amended.
There are so many opportunities along the line to prevent this distressing, unnecessary and frankly unprofessional approach I can't believe that it is true.
  • I had two policies with CPP, one for card protection the other for Identity fraud. I have just received compensation for card protection but not for Identity fraud. I contacted CPP regarding this but was fobbed off and advised to contact Morgan Stanley regarding this. CPP stated that although the policy was purchased through CPP it was on behalf of Morgan Stanley and therefore (MS) were dealing with the claim. I have both the orignal insurance policies for card protection and identity fraud with CPP company logo clearly displayed at the top of certificates with no other company logo on the the policy. Has any one else experienced similar problems.

That's because CPP are the providers of the Insurance and is not evidence that they have any liability if it was mis-sold to you.. Any mis-selling complaint goes to the seller of the policy and I can't see it as "fobbing" you off if they have simply referred you to the correct firm you have to complain to.

    Hi all,

I've been receiving letters and the claim forms from CPP, but I don't ever recall having payment protection on a financial product, let alone from 2005 onwards.

Does the fact they have written to me automatically mean I paid for something that wasn't needed and that I should claim? If so, what should I do given that I do not know which product it referred to? I find it odd that they would write to me out of the blue if I wasn't eligible...

I am in the same circumstances. I have had a letter saying I may have been mis-sold protection but with no real idea of when this might have happened. On the form from CPP I have t oexpalin why I should get compensation. My only idea was to write that I wanted compensation because if I was due it then they should pay me it (then do an extra bit to say if they wanted more information they should let me know and also give me more details on why they had contacted me). Then having done a search online I find out there is all these templates for replying - but all these assume I know exactly how I was mis-sold.

So all those of you celebrating how much money you got back - how do I find out more information on how I was mis-sold card protection?
