I dont believe this argument that "you never dialled these numbers so you cant cancel"....doesnt seem legal to me.

you took a contract with a specific tariff. the t&c says if they raised there prices above Retail Price Index then you can cancel.

nothing is said about you having to use/ dial the numbers that they have increased the prices of. Can they predict that you wouldnt have dialled them during the time of your contract?? in a word ...NO!

if i wasnt on a big cashback and not worth cancelling....then my DD would be cancelled and I would be kicking off big time.

This appears to be the get out clause that allows you to leave.

"4.3 You may also terminate your Contract if we vary its terms, resulting in an excessive increase in the Charges or changes that alter your rights under this Contract to your detriment. In such cases you would need to give us at least 14 days written notice prior to your Billing Date (and within one month of us telling you about the changes).

If you dont use 07744/07755 numbers or very rarely, it would be hard to prove an excessive increase in your costs. But as i said earlier dont accept it if they say no ask to go to arbitration.

    Hi All,

I think its great that u guys are quite determined to get ur contracts cancelled.

    But, I just don't see the point :confused::confused: .

Because, why would you want to cancel ur contracts. I mean u gotta have some contract, don't u. And, none of the operators are currently offering these 07744/07755 numbers as part of their inclusive minutes anyway. So, I see no attraction in cancelling from orange & going over to somebody else too. Just more hassle.:confused::confused:

Am I the only one who thinks this way? Am, I missing something here ???

Possibly they want a newer phone,or to cut their overheads.
  • So you mean to say that if we cancel the contract we don't have to pay for the price of phone?
Secondly i am of the same view if we cancel the contract how we are gona use calling cards??? Can we ask them to lower the tariff? anybdoy with an idea?

They could well ask you to return phone depends on how long you have had it.

You can call calling cards from any phone not just an Orange Contract surely.

You can reduce your contract to minimum depending on how long you have had it.
  • I had it for 7 months now.
And i won't be able to downgrade it b4 september.
Is there anybody who has cancelled the contract with orange yet??

The main point of cancelling the contract is to send a message to Orange that this not a good move, by removing the use of 07744 numbers they will lose lots of customers, a benefit of cancelling your contract would be your would be able to keep your handset and go out and find a good deal and use that.

o2 have recently changed their t&c but these did not affect everyone only new customers who would know what they are getting into, and allowing existing customers to keep using the service until they need to change.
    Nearly debt free
  • I have just spoken and they say they haven't got any information like this that you can cancel if you have been using these minutes a lot.

Well one of my mates a got a text from orange
    It came up as orangeupdate.
07744 calls still inclusive unless you changed to an animal tariff between 1st march and 31st july 2007 directly with orange.see https://www.orange.co.uk/termsupdate.

So i rang orange and they said yes thats true but if you connected to orange b4 1st of march and you changed your tariff after 1st of march 2007 you will still be charged.

Thats the latest i have got.
My mate got the text at 1315 but i haven't heard anythng like this from anybody else.

I got the same message around the same time. I rang Orange on the saturday and they did not know where I stand in terms of cancelation and said there legal team would look into it and have a answer on monday.

I was going to ring on monday but got this message and rechecked the terms and conditions so I thought I was safe to use my mobile with 07744 numbers. But I just recently checked and my minutes aint reducing which gives me a nasty feeling that they are charging me.

Did anyone else get the message on monday? Where do I stand because surely they are breaching there own terms by giving no notice and saying on there 'new' t&c that it doesn't affect all customers when it does. Surely I should not have to pay any costs incurred due to Orange basically lying?
  • Welll i tried another attempt and they confirmed that orange will refund any call charges that will be betwwn 8th to 22nd of june in their july bill, he tried his best but couldn't email me , but he read a statement to me stating that they will refund the call charges with in the dates that i mentioned in july bill cuz we didn't give enough notice.

So we can atleast smile for a while
