I have still been using the 07744 service on Orange, I upgraded some time last year and going by the t&c on their website this does/shouldn't affect me, but speaking to a CS supervisor regarding a different matter, she told me about the new 07744 terms and charges, and specifically mentioned that ALL customers will be charged for calls to 07744 calls, so I read the points from the t&c from their website and she was adamant that everyone will be charged, so I mentioned the charges again and made a point about the notice period, she went away and spoke to a colleuge and came back saying that the legal department is looking into the matter and she can't say any more.

Is there anyone who's billing date is around now, who has been using the 07744 service over the weekend and their contract started before 1st March 2007, so we can see from an actual bill what's happening, it's a shame that Orange don't have an itemised unbilled section on their website like o2.

I am checking my remaining allowance and it seems like my call allowance it being deducted but can be certain as I've been making alot of calls lately and my bill won't be produced till next week, I will be checking it online as you can download the whole bill from the website.

I have just heard that Orange have started to agree that people can cancel their contracts without penalty depending on their usage of 07744/07755 numbers before the announcement.

So ring cancellations again, be firm with them and providing you used 07744/07755 service a reasonable amount they should agree to cancel.

If they dont agree with you this time tell them you want to invoke the complaints procedure, and ask them to send details to you.

They want entertain cancellations from people who never called 07744/07755.:D

Have you got any specific number to ring cancellations?
Did anybody managed to get an email confirmation of what they say?
because when you call them next time they will refuse to accept that.
On a forum on forum.yourcallworld.com there is an information that orange customers will not be charged till 22nd of june because of short notice but did anybody hear any thng like that?
Plz if somebody rings orange and they agree to cancel it plz do take the name of the person and extension number .
That would really help , i think so .

I dont believe this argument that "you never dialled these numbers so you cant cancel"....doesnt seem legal to me.

you took a contract with a specific tariff. the t&c says if they raised there prices above Retail Price Index then you can cancel.

nothing is said about you having to use/ dial the numbers that they have increased the prices of. Can they predict that you wouldnt have dialled them during the time of your contract?? in a word ...NO!

if i wasnt on a big cashback and not worth cancelling....then my DD would be cancelled and I would be kicking off big time.

Call 150 then option 4 and go to normal cancellations. They will either cancel,or read you a script agreed by their legal team why you cant.It will depend if you used 07744/55 facility a lot or are just trying it on.:D

    Hi All,

I think its great that u guys are quite determined to get ur contracts cancelled.

    But, I just don't see the point :confused::confused: .

Because, why would you want to cancel ur contracts. I mean u gotta have some contract, don't u. And, none of the operators are currently offering these 07744/07755 numbers as part of their inclusive minutes anyway. So, I see no attraction in cancelling from orange & going over to somebody else too. Just more hassle.:confused::confused:

Am I the only one who thinks this way? Am, I missing something here ???

well i started my contract around May 24th and again, the inclusion of these numbers was one of thes reasons to get on the contract.

anyway, i havent even had a text yet to say their terms have changed, and looking at the terms, it would suggest i am not affected as i did not get it direct from orange but a third party. i used it yesterday and it looks like i have been charged as the call hasn't come out my minutes. despite what they say though, their t&c still are the most up to date information. as far as i am concerned i will still use them until the t&c say otherwise and claim back the costs.

the other thing now bugging me, i would love to cancel the contract but the t&c of the third party from whom i bought the contract and my phone say they can charge for the cost of the phone if i cancel my contract with orange for any reason so im stuck :(

the main benefit is if you got the latest, brandspanking new handset on an expensive tariff...ie you got the phone subsidised cos of the high tariff

you can immediately get out of the contract,,keep the phone ,,, then shop around for another phone and another contract....or go on PAYG

the company is also required to supply a PAC code so u can take the telephone number with you.

T&C's are with Orange,,, the dealer sells you the phone,,, get commission then you are an orange cust. the only need to keep in contact with the dealer is any cashbacks... in this case you mAY be worse cancelling early (like me)....check it out.
