Can you wear black to a wedding?

Re the shoes, I can also sympathise...I have flippers for feet. I can't wear most women's styles, as they are just too narrow, so I live in Caterpillar men's boots and the one style of plain flat pumps I could magically fit into from Asda so I bought 3 pairs of (cheap as chips too!)...lol
As for heels...Ha! I have never, ever been able to wear them. I just can't walk in them.
See if you can find a pair of plain pumps maybe? For info, the ones I have are those (although I got mine last year so they may have changed the fit!) http://direct.asda.com/george/womens-shoes/canvas-ballerina-shoes-black/G004092793,default,pd.html
Edit: Ah, I just saw that your dress is navy! Ignore the above.0 -
I wore docs for 20 years, and since then have had trouble finding shoes to fit my flippers!52% tight0

Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

I can't wear heels now. I got some Clarks sandals from ebay for a wedding but they're really uncomfortable. I can only get the 'unstructured' range from Clarks, presumably because I'm fat now. Joseph Seibel plain black sandals are comfortable, but not dressy I suppose.
At least with shoes you're unlikely to change size, so they'll last for ages even if they don't get worn often.
EDIT: I have the 'Betsy' style, but in black http://www.shoetailor.com/shop/1/_/N-1ytvfwx/Ntt-josef+seibel/products/show.action?promo=6201&cm_mmc=google-_-Shoe%20Tailor-_-na-_-joseph+siebel&gclid=CM66sd29grkCFZMQtAodyz0A0g&gclsrc=aw.ds52% tight0 -

So I don't call for them (-:
:rotfl:
When I wore tights before they were usually black but I liked navy for certain things. Clearly I'm in a minority group.Have you tried Asda for tights? I find that they fit a lot better than other shops, and I'm sure I've seen navy ones there. I have a fair few pairs of navy ones and they'd have come from there or BHS.
The nearest Adsa is miles away. Many miles away.
I was in there today.
I should have said......it's hard finding navy tights in an extra large. :rotfl:
I did get a pair but they weren't the thickness I wanted. They'll do though.Herman - MP for all!0 -

I'm not so sure...I used to be a 5 before I got fat...I'm a 7 now.

I really like those....I'd live in the blue ones...with my jeans of course.Herman - MP for all!0 -
try the shoes tomorrow morning AJ, you might find one of them fits fine and is suitable

You have my sympathies, Ali, I have wide feet with high insteps, and finding something that fits is a minor miracle, let alone be comfortable or dressy. I'm another one in Clark's unstructured day to day. Have you seen the un Linda style? It comes in either navy, wine patent or black, probably the dressiest of the styles.Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

I am a big girl
and 4 years ago for my brothers wedding I bought what some would call a little black dress - but in my case a big black dress...lol :rotfl:
I also bought a floaty top/overshirt thingy that is black with cerise dots... it looked great.
It is being reused in october for my sisters wedding, with a different floaty top thingy."Aunty C McB-Wik"

Latest update in the ongoing saga.....
I think I might have found something.
I found a dress tucked away on a sale rail in Monsoon. There was only one like it and it was hanging in amongst tops and trousers and could hardly be seen. The colour caught my eye so I pulled it out and it was my size.
It's not the most weddingy thing I've ever seen but it's definitely fancier than normal day clothes so I think it will do. It's in a colour that suits me (darkish back ground with lighter small pattern....it's not black), a shape that doesn't emphasise things and it was also half price.
At last. Happy days.
I need shoes now. :rotfl:
Oh I'm really pleased for you, I was worried about you:D:D0
