'Twas all that collective MSE thought power willing you to find something suitable!! Monsoon dresses always look good too.

I'm going to New Look on my way to work shortly as they have a sale on, shoes range from really high, modern to almost flat ballet shoes that do me for work at around £8, might help?

Latest update in the ongoing saga..... :D

I think I might have found something. :D

I found a dress tucked away on a sale rail in Monsoon. There was only one like it and it was hanging in amongst tops and trousers and could hardly be seen. The colour caught my eye so I pulled it out and it was my size.

It's not the most weddingy thing I've ever seen but it's definitely fancier than normal day clothes so I think it will do. It's in a colour that suits me (darkish back ground with lighter small pattern....it's not black), a shape that doesn't emphasise things and it was also half price.

    At last. Happy days. :D

    I need shoes now. :rotfl:

    Fantastic! :D

Very weirdly, I tried on a dress in Monsoon yesterday that was tucked away half price in the sale rack and sounds like what you have described!! What are the chances it's the same one?! (probably very slim?)

ETA - how rude of me, suddenly butting into the thread when I don't think I have posted much before - I have been reading all along so I forgot I haven't actually been that involved in the discussion! I must say WELL DONE for finding something, very pleased for you :D I have similar problems searching for clothes because while I am not quite plus sized, I am miniature in height (well under 5 foot!) so everything looks awful - even 'petite' ranges are meant for people about 4 inches taller than me! So I have felt your pain throughout this thread, albeit from a slightly different perspective.

I am 5 foot exactly and I will wear trousers till they have holes in because it's such a pain in the backside buying trousers. Even petite ones catch on the floor, and all the nice ones are none-petite, so I have to get them altered, then after altering they don't look quite right. I have actually taken to getting normal three quarter lengths as they hang really well on me to avoid all the carp!

Ok off to look for shoes now.

Keep the thought power harnessed for another wee while please. :rotfl:

Annoyingly I used to have a bag the same colour (it was my Mum's but she used it for one wedding and then put it away so it was practically pristine).

I gave it away years ago as I knew I'd not be going anywhere to need it.

See....there's a reason I should keep hoarding. :rotfl:

Is there a big retail place, like meadowhall or bluewater, near you? Don't go thinking I MUST GET SHOES I WILL GET SHOES, you have to think, "I'm just going to have a stroll around X. It's such a lovely day. I'm not bothered about shoes at all." Guaranteed you'll spy something in a window!

That's great, I'm really pleased you've found something. There is nothing more depressing than needing to buy something and the shops being full of things which just don't look right. I'm not overweight but I still suffer from this. I find clothes these days seem to be designed for giants with no hips!

Anyway, shoe shopping is much more fun :) I hope you enjoy the wedding and feel like a million dollars in your new dress x

Ditto. Apart from Dorothy Perkins petite super skinny jeans, which look just about ok with the bottoms folded up, I don't think I've bought any trousers since I moved out of my mum's house 4 years ago, because she used to take them up for me! I even have a sewing machine and in theory know how to do it, but it is such a pain. I have been wearing the same pair of horrible black trousers that are basically falling apart to work for the past 3 years. This is why I wear loads of dresses even when they don't suit me, because you don't have to take them up!
