That's ok, the sites just show you that there are styles that maybe you think you can't wear but possibly could.
I'm the same but sometimes the the only thing that holds us back is ourselves.
    Good luck.

Aaarrgh! Not my size. Again. :rotfl:

I have been doing that. :)

The thing is because of the shape I am, I have a narrow range of what suits. Lots of things at the moment seem to be along the same lines, either gathered at the side (supposedly to disguise tum but does absolutely nothing for me, or has a waist that is more tailored and I can't fit into them.

Don't get me wrong, I have been looking and I've been searching for specific dresses in case anyone has a once worn job they are selling but the kind of things I need are just not coming up in the size I need.

I know what you mean about the gathered waist. And the tailored waist. I prefer elasticated waist, especially since my weight goes up and down a lot so they can cover a couple of sizes.

Are the black dresses you saw still available? Might be time to switch the search to bright cardigans/pashminas and other accessories?
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

All but 2 are the kind of styles that don't suit my shape. The 2 that don't are black. Back to the opening post......:D

Thanks for thinking about me anyway. :)

Ok, I feel a bit sick and nervous now......I've just ordered over £600 of stuff online. _pale_

I have skirts, blouses, dresses, cardis and a jacket. Two sizes of each except for jacket and a cardi as they were sale stock and only one size available..

Returns are accepted so I don't know why I feel nervous. I have no luck, something will go wrong.

Surely something in amongst that lot will fit. :rotfl:

In the meantime, I'm also going into town tomorrow and I'm buying black trousers and a fancy blouse as back up! :D

Please, please collectively cross your fingers for me? I'm getting really stressed here...dressing oneself in nerve racking you know. I need it done. :D

Oh my goodness. I've spent a tenner so far :rotfl:
Mind you I still have the unenviable task of hemming the skirt up, as it's too long.

I hope you find something suitable, and please try not to stress about it too much :) As people have said, unless you're very close family, like the mother of the groom or something like that, you probably don't need to dress too over-the-top posh!

That's the way to do it! That's how I do it, anyway.....:p Good luck! You'll relax and feel better with a back-up outfit.

I was honestly going to post that you need to do something about your weight issue because if after 15 pages, and I didn't read them all, of probably mostly suggestions that you haven't found anything then you have to fix your self worth. Get off your backside and either go be proud of yourself, or go lose weight because you will be so miserable if you carry on this way.

I am fat, very fat, but I have an acceptance about what I wear, feel, do, and look. And don't get me wrong, I am trying to lose weight, in all ways, but right now I am fine with me being me, my size being my size. This doesn't breed acceptance of my size, as I do need to lose weight, but it helps me to not be miserable and be so down on myself which is terribly obvious in the last and first page of this thread.
I could say all the usual, you are beuatiful whatever size etc, but if you don't think that, it's a waste. I don't mean to hate on you, but you seem to hate on yourself too much. Be comfortable with yourself. If you feel too pale, hit the make up, do a proper make up session somewhere to look less pale and thus allow you to wear different coloured clothes.

Right, practical now. For each outfit/dress/whatever you try on get someone to take a picture in proper natural light of both the back, front and side. When you have done that with everything, and all combinations (get a friend over, bottle of wine, music, have a laugh) and then look at the all at the end and see which you didn't find to be comfortable to wear, those that you liked the look of, but had to readjust constantly, pulling out, down, etc, those you think look bad on you and "bin" those clothes. With what you are left with consider which is the most comfortable, most "you" and one you like the look of in photos then those are the outfits you want to wear.

I hope this advice helps, and I promise I'm not being nasty, but being overweight is not the end of the world that means you look terrible in everything.

Do you really think you know me? You think a stranger telling me to fix my self worth is helpful?

Fat is not beautiful. Fat is unpleasant. People don't aspire to be fat because it's good do they? You think I have a self worth issue because I'm not willing to 'love' my fat? I am most certainly NOT beautiful at this weight.

I don't mean to hate on you, but you seem to hate on yourself too much.

I've just read through this thread again. With the exception of a couple of fed up posts, I've pretty much joked my way through this thread. If anything it's an illustration of my sense of humour and how upbeat I am the majority of the time. I think your perception needs work.

Be comfortable with yourself. If you feel too pale, hit the make up, do a proper make up session somewhere to look less pale and thus allow you to wear different coloured clothes.

I don't hate myself. I hate my fat. I am able to separate the two.

Pale? I need to make myself less 'pale'? I didn't know I was pale in the first place. :rotfl: Saying I suit certain colours doesn't mean I'm 'pale'.

No, I'm afraid it didn't help. In fact if anything, you've put my back up. I didn't actually ask for advice on how I should feel, thanks.

And btw I don't look terrible in everything, I suit casual clothes, certain colours and certain styles. Wedding attire tends by nature to be much more formal, not my usual style and not what particularly suits my shape.
