Can you wear black to a wedding?

Do you need to get it on the high street or could you get it online? Simplybe has lots of bigger sizes.I know you're handy as you practically rebuilt your house, so how about getting some fabric and running up a loose shift dress and buying a jacket?
I am a quirk of nature, I'm only handy with the things you would normally associate with males.
It takes me all my time to sew a button on.
I would not have the time, inclination or patience to make something to wear. In fact I think I'd really rather poke my eyes out with a sharp stick. (Which of course i could hone nicely on my lovely table saw :rotfl:)Herman - MP for all!0 -

OP, someone else posted a link to stuff made on ebay - I had a look at it. I've not ordered from the seller myself, or anything, but it does look interesting, goes up to size 32 / 34, and you can change sleeve length / dress length and different colours, too. Perhaps worth a look? this one, for example, says "brandy" but other colours available that you said suited you, such as

A lot cheaper than some of the stuff you linked to, well under £100....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
How about this in purple?

Guys don't be mad at me for being misleading please...but I don't have time to get something made. I was a little 'loose' with the timing in my first post as I didn't want to be even more easily recognised if there was someone else attending the wedding who was an MSE'r.
Don't feel your comments are not of help though. xHerman - MP for all!0 -
Thanks but the reason I needed navy was to see if I could utilise something I had already.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Lol.......you wouldn't believe me.
I have no wardrobe to speak of and certainly nothing dressy. I've not had the need tbh. I usually have 2 pairs of jeans and a handful of t-shirts on the go at any one time. When one pair wears out, I buy another pair.
I laughed inwardly at a recent comment from someone on another thread (not to me) who said something along the lines of 'I just don't believe anyone would only have xxxxxxxxx'.
Well that someone would be me, I just don't have many clothes. I've always just made do and it's never been a problem before cos I've never needed to go anywhere.
As for the utilising something I already had....it was a dress SIL had and gave it to me but it was a bit tight across the back and a bit short but I was wondering if I could have covered it up with a long navy cardi. I'm getting desperate.
Now stop making me confess things. :rotfl:
Ok, well, reusing sounds good.
I wouldn't restrict to a cardi...or navy necessarily ...is the dress plain?
A beautiful swathe of a stole or pashmina type scarf might actually be better for concealing 'pull' and breaking things up. I quite often drape bits of fabric/scarves etc with a broach ( and usually some safety pins, to get it to lie exactly where I want it to) in such a way as flatters me and the dress and conceals what I want concealed.
A, how short is too short, if its unflattering but decent and breaks no rules of ettiquette I'd wear it and save more stress tbh. (And still buy new underwear....)0 -
I got my dress for last year's rugby awards ball at BHS. They have some gorgeous formal dresses up to a 24. Also have you tried Bon Marche? Again up to a 24 and some nice stuff there. My size 24 mate buys her formal type dresses from Very.co.uk and no word of a lie she must own about 15 of them, all gorgeous. I'm no longer a size 22-24 in dresses so don't really pay attention to what the shops have in those sizes any more but fingers crossed you find something x*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200
