When my mum was bigger, she had an absolute nightmare buying clothes. She was about a size 20-22 and she would always end up in tears at the end of shopping trips, as me and my sister were a size 10 at the time and could get anything we wanted and it upset her quite a lot. She has slimmed down to an 18, but she says it's still horrific.

One of her favourite haunts when she was 20-22 was marks and spencers, have you tried there?

    I empathise with her.

Yip Marks was the same, nothing much there to fit me.

Do you need to get it on the high street or could you get it online? Simplybe has lots of bigger sizes.

Thanks lir but you're going the wrong way :o...their stuff isn't big enough generally. :o

I used to be pear shaped, I'm now an apple. A cooking apple probably, they tend to be bigger. :rotfl:

Ok, but the same applies elsewhere...you can have stuff altered!

Its crazy the 'shape' thing. I believe myself to be sort of potato shaped;).

I still think you should consider having a quick look at patterns and find a local dressmaker. I think it would work out cheaper.

Nope. Was at Matalan on Monday, got more jeans. :D

Tesco either don't go big enough or their sizes are small. I tried dresses in a size that was supposedly of the size that I'd been trying in other stores and they wouldn't go near me.

Asda was better for clothes when I was smaller, not so good now.

I know you're handy as you practically rebuilt your house, so how about getting some fabric and running up a loose shift dress and buying a jacket?

You've probably already looked but I just googed Grizas and this sale came up - similar styles but I know taste is very personal so it might no be appropriate. I also got a pop up giving me a code for a further 10% off. I didn't check the sizes so apologies if they are not right.

What about this if you like the grizas style. I reckon you can glam it up with black trousers and a glitzy top.

Sorry, my message before appeared to not go through so I rewrote and added this link.
