tesco deliveries aint cheap between £4 - £5 at least. for this i would expect the service i paid for. we once had a wine delivery early and we didn't mind as he asked if it was alright before he unloaded the van. if you specifically book a slot it is only manners for them to phone or ask before unloading.

if he is employed in retail he will have a set shift - he will not be able to drop his van off early as questions would be asked.

just wondered, how many tesco home delivery shoppers actually have had their shopping placed at the fridge by the delivery man? we haven't and have never been asked:rolleyes:

If you want chaufeur premium services you have to pay for them ;) I'll offer at £10 an hour of my time + travelling expenses (including any travelling time) and will do the most superb service of stocking your fridge and freezer with lovely wholesome food, and what's more I'll even choose it for you and automatically re-stock (key to your house required). I'll even be your chef and housekeeper too :)

I actuallly could do with a job to be honest lol.

    reply to albertross:

tesco advertise on their site, our drivers deliver to your fridge. they don't advertise to put in in your fridge as you have suggested. i imagine drivers carrying your shopping up stairs to your fridge would be handy but i'd prefer them not to trapse through my house.

i don't personnally think £4 - £5 pounds is cheap especially if the service is substandard per the op's post.

re the dvd you obviously are not shopping at the right places as many online retailers deliver items such as this for free.

reply to anewman: though i'd love to give you a job:D the service i was talking about is something tesco advertise their drivers as doing - probably to entice you away from a competitor.

How did the driver know "I was in, clearly in" - what is he, psychic or something? As I hadn't answered the door, he had no way of knowing whether I was at home or not.

maybe he heard your kid screaming? you said you looked out the window , why could you not have shouted down to the driver and told him to come back after 9?

He had two and a half hours before the end of the alloted delivery slot.

How do you know that was his only delivery in that time period?

Tesco states that if the delivery is going to be early then they will phone you from the van to ask if its OK to deliver. So yes it is their fault for not following their own procedure. :)

It doesn't actually say anywhere that they didn't phone, so why is this being assumed by so many people?

I agree with a comment about communication made earlier. The op could have easily politely said can you come back later/deliver somewhere else first or wait etc. I expect if that had been done it all would have been fine.

They'll be the army of "why should she do that shes paying for it" who in my opinion are so lazy and self righteous that rather than negotiating a simple thing they'd rather cut off their nose to spite their face all in the name of service.

I believe the consumer is to blame for service. That majority will vote for cheaper, this leads companies to cut corners to achieve that which in turn leads to a lower standard of service. If you disagree with that you might want to ask yourself why supermarkets are doing so well?

I'm very much a believer of 'vote with your feet'. I wonder why the op hasn't/won't do that? I simply would have stopped using them second or third time in.

Finally the only other post that has interested me here is the one that says £5 isn't cheap for home delivery of supermarket goods. With the earlier post mentioning the time it would take one to personally shop themselves. The time it takes to pick the stock, the cost of petrol, the drivers wages then what on earth is cheap?
The post remarking that this person has no idea of the costs of running a business are entirely true.

I am disabled and it takes time for me to answer the door, I have had times when parcels are delivered by courior (sp) they knock and drop the parcel.
Most of the regular delivery men and postied know that it takes time for me to answer the door. Others just don't care.
Usually they can see that I am in through the front window and there is a disabled sign on my door. There has been times when expensive stuff (mobile phones etc) have left at my front door (esp by one specific driver) who doesn't even check if the neighbours will take it.
She refuses to take it round the back where there is a "parcel box" for them to go into, she just drops and runs.
I too would be annoyed if a delivery came before a specified time slot as you get time slots for a reason..to ensure you are available to recieve. Dealing with children is not able to recieve.

I'm thoroughly dissappointed by this thread, and further to my first post I would like to make two points.

    1. This is the VENT board. The OP vented her unhappiness with the service she received.
    2. BE NICE TO ALL MONEYSAVERS.

    Enough said.

There are alot of extreme cases being banded about here.

People mentioning drowing children, handicapped, farthest from the sun type locations etc etc

This thread is so extreme is worrying. There seems to be no sensible reasoning behind it all.

Everyone seems to be a detective without asking basic questions. Everyone seems to be a victim of some sort.

Why cant people get a grip?

    Tesco are fine.
Tesco have the strongest loyalty base amongst the UK shoppers and supermarkets.
Tesco are the pioneers of alot of what we take granted now.

The other supermarkets are following suite too.

If you feel strongly about a particular point of a supermarket then vote with your feet (or internet click in the case of the OP).

Infact if your sure that a supermarket is that bad, then why dont you fill the gap in the marketplace?

Try to do it yourself, grow your own vegetables & fruit, catch your own food etc.......you could if you felt strongly enough...but you dont....you just want to whinge and moan. Venting is something different....

    As for Grannyboon,

Swearing at members of this forum is not on. As for the people agreeing with you on swearing, its still not on.

Grannyboon you have shown that when you are pressed on a subject you resort to offensive remarks, given the chance violence too, reading some of your comments.

Grannyboon consider you age, consider what you are writing. I'd be concerned for the delivery driver if he had delivered to you 30 minutes early....would you of swore and attacked him? Seems plausable considering your behaviour and antics on this thread.
