I can't imagine *any* area where Tesco are indespensible as the world is full of shops and we can take our custom whereever we choose.
with respect Tesco's are forcing smaller businesses to close by undercutting their prices because they can bully manufacturers to sell them their goods very cheap0 -

They got as big as they are by giving customers what they want UNTIL they were big enough to treat them like dirt and know they cannot do much about it.
Unfortunately, it's not just Tesco that have this attitude and many places are now restricted to one or two of the major supermarkets for their grocery shop.
The point I am making is, they are letting customer care slip and the customers are expecting less now, as a consequence. The danger is we will all start to believe the customer is NEVER right and that is not a good thing imo!!!0 -

Don't consumers demand never ending price cuts?
Would you prefer a communist system where prices were controlled? The money, Dave...0 -

No, but as Ive said at least twice now - he may have thought the customer would come home soon, to be there in time for the delivery. They've done that here once and I've driven up to find half the stuff unloaded.
It was just a couple of minutes early though and the driver had been before and knew I didn't get home until that time.0 -

Prices will rise once the major supermarkets have an absolute monopoly. I think Tesco prices have risen pretty sharply over the last year or two and I can only see it getting worse. Unfortunately, the suppliers will still be squeezed and Tesco etc pocket the difference. Can't lose really, can they?0 -

You think they might turn on the people who provide their profits?Unfortunately, it's not just Tesco that have this attitude and many places are now restricted to one or two of the major supermarkets for their grocery shop.
Presumably because what was there before was not all that good? The point I am making is, they are letting customer care slip and the customers are expecting less now, as a consequence. The danger is we will all start to believe the customer is NEVER right and that is not a good thing imo!!!
It was such a trivial problem...The money, Dave...0
