Compensation for delayed flights Discussion Area

One ticket - you have a claim. The delay was a 'knockon' from a previous flight - not 'extraordinary'. The airline were, in your view, incompetent as there were actions they could and should have taken - irrelevant from the compensation point of view. Press on!0

The bits obviously does not make sense is
1. Even when I was stuck in Madrid they had chance to book with another airline for me (as tickets were available with Norwegian Air etc)
2. Most importantly, if this problem was known even before boarding then the correct thing they should have done was to rebook with another airline?
Airlines are very reluctant to re book you onto a different airline and in this regard they flout the rules. They have been getting away with this for far too long and the CAA should do something about it.
Unfortunately the CAA lean towards the airlines and not the passenger, not surprising really as the airlines are one of their main paymasters.
The fact that they did not return you home asap is something to mention to a judge, if it were to get that far.
You seem to have a solid case tho. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
Hi all,
I contacted the airline responsible for our delay (traveled on Smart Wings but run by Travel Service, so I emailed them as suggested on their website), received a generic automatic reply saying they would respond in 10 working days. That was nearly 3 weeks ago and heard nothing. My bag was also delayed over 24 hours so also tried to email separately about that and again no reply. How do I take this further? Many thanks!!!0 -
doh444 - suggest you start reading Vauban's Guide.0

An interesting article from Bott & Co regarding bad weather. Perhaps it is more claimable that many assume.

I used resolver to submit a claim in July to Vueling for my delayed outgoing flight to Alicante. (18 hours approx)
I recieved a note back asking for my bank details and have heard nothing since and have not been given any compensation.
How long do I wait?
I emailed them again using resolver about 2-3 weeks ago and have had no reply.
Any guidance on this matter would be appreciated.

2 to 3 weeks long enough. Read Vauban's Guide then send them letter before action. If they have indicated they will pay you remind them of the fact and maybe advise them - again - of sort/account numbers.0

Riddled with errors (and I suspect some of the anecdotes made up):
