  • Air Europe have just sent me -
We acknowledge receipt of your comments made on our Website on 29th September 2014 concerning a flight that dates back to the year 2010.
We would like to inform you that in accordance with the Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules Relating to International Carriage by Air, Signed at Warsaw on 12 October 1929 (Warsaw Convention)

    Article 29
    1. The right to damages shall be extinguished if an action is not brought within two years, reckoned from the date of arrival at the destination, or from the date on which the aircraft ought to have arrived, or from the date on which the carriage stopped.

Any advice as how to respond?

This was presumably before yesterday's Supreme Court decision in Dawson, so send them a notice before action mentioning this. If they still refuse, then sue them
  • Thanks to info on Money Saver site my wife and I have received 600 euros each for delayed flight to Logan airport, Boston. Initially Aer Lingus turned us down but following the advice we appealed to the Aviation Authority. The flight was in October 2013 and we have just received the cheques today. I had never heard of this compensation scheme before reading the Money Saving Expert pages and the airlines certainly do not mention it, so thank you martin Lewis

  • We finally got the compensation we were entitled to from Thomas Cook. It was a very long process, including involving the CAA. It was a lot of very hard work and I'm sure that many people would have given up.

We recently suffered a 9 hour delay on a EU flight which was just under 1,500kM, but to get us home they diverted us to a different airport before finally getting us home.

Do we claim for the original flight distance of up to 1,500kM or the actual distance travelled to get home which was just above 1,500kM?

We flew with Germania to Zante in June last year. We dont have our boarding passes, any idea how we go about proving that we checked in, also how do I get proof that our flight arrived more than 3 hours late, the departure was delayed by 3 hours 27 mins.

    Many thanks in advance :):):)
