Interesting point but do we know how the airlines calculate their scheduled arrival time? Touchdown? Engines off? Door open? If they use any method other than door open at present they will surely revise their scheduled arrival time to door open0

Apparently it is "chocks on" (which is presumably the same as engine shutdown). I had always assumed touchdown on the runway, but this isn't correct.0 -
As a family we had a flight cancelled ( Vueling) from Alicante to Barcelona, we know we should be able to get compensation for this flight BUT due to this cancellation we missed our cruise departure from Barcelona. Also it was not possible to fly to the next port to pick up the cruise the following day. Should we be able to claim the cost of the missed cruise. The cruise cost was £ 2,000.00 approx.0

No. Consequential losses are not claimable under the Regulation.
But you must surely have had adequate travel insurance for precisely this contingency? This is always a risk when flying to catch a cruise.0 -
Myself and my partner travelled to Dominican Republic (Puerto Plata) on 15th June and had a delay of over 11 hours in Gatwick airport.
I contacted Thomson under the advice of this forum and what a surprise, they rejected it straight away saying something along the lines of if everyone claimed they would go bust. I do agree to this, but they did not give us any updates while we were waiting including any information about if a back up plane was on its way.
I then contacted CAA with all the information about it and within 4 weeks they have come back to me advising that Thomson are at fault and Thomson will be contacting me shortly with compensation.
Thanks so much to all the advice on this forum, as I would not have a clue as to what I would have to do. :-)0 -
I apologise if this has been asked a million times before but I'm suffering with vertigo at the moment and finding it difficult to read all the info. I sent off a copy of the template letter to Thomson about 16 days ago. I've had no reply so far, how much longer should I give them? I know it said 14 days in the letter but I've given them a few extra days already. Thanks.0

If you said you'd give then 14 days, then 14 days sounds about right.
But what you gonna do next if they keep on ignoring you?0 -

What would you suggest is the next appropriate step? Thanks.
When you're feeling better, I suggest you read my guide! Which explains everything you need to know. There's a link to it from the sticky.0
