I don't think you ever get 2 claims; it looks like a straight cancellation.0 -

If you do not know the airline it will be impossible to check. If you do know the airline your post is not on the correct thread. Bird strike can be extraordinary ~ really depends upon if it actually occurred to your flight, the preceding flight or one in the previous year to your flight.
Thanks for you reply 111KAB. I do know the airline but didn't realise this was the wrong thread. My flight originated in Muscat and it appears it didn't make it to Doha or once it landed it was deemed unfit to fly. I can ask for clarification if you feel this has an impact on whether it is deemed 'extraordinary'?0 -

If your journey was commencing in Doha, EU compensation would only apply if it was an EU airline whether the delay was extraordinary or not
Was it an EU airline?0 -
Has anyone had this as a reason for refusal?
"Your claim has been refused because flight BA1407 was delayed due to airfield restrictions being in place that were outside British Airways' control. Under EU legislation, British Airways is not liable for a compensation payment in this situation."
Our flight was due to leave Manchester at 19:40 but even at 19:00 the plane had yet to arrive from Heathrow we ended up leaving an hour later ( but our destination was Sydney and we missed our connections so the three hours is applicable)
I am wondering if the reasons it was late leaving Heathrow can be used rather than the reason it was late leaving Heathrow. Obviously airfield restrictions were in place as they had to find a slot for our plane. Don't think this constitutes extraordinary circumstances?
Plus passenger on plane said he had claimed twice this year for the same flight as it was notorious for being late.
Help !0 -
An airfield restriction would ordinarily be outside the airline's control. But only, I would argue, if it directly affected the flight concerned. And if the delay could have been reasonably anticipated, then the airline had an obligation to make provision.
So I think your claim is a bit complex, and the full details are unlikely to emerge until you start court action (and the airline is obliged to disclose what really happened and when).0 -
Flightstats is the place that you can look for details. You need to do the searching yourself by checking routes and dates. What they are saying is that you cannot use flightstats data in court but if they have reported accurately then the flight was obviously delayed and the airline would know that.
If you register you can then search...I assume you had a number of flights that you know about (routes and dates) but cannot remember which one of these was the delayed one
The issue I was having on their site was how to search their historic records, the only search functionality I can find on this site can't go back more than a day.
Can anyone help with a link to the historic search page?0 -

You will be able to change the dates in the search box on the right, you can overtype dates or move backwards
Assuming you have registered and logged in0 -
JMC73, as a regular on the BA1407, I have to say the delays have been relatively few since the time change at the end of March, with the large number of connecting passengers, BA do their best to get the flight back to Heathrow in time. What was the date of the delay, there were some days in July when the weather in London was exceptionally bad and BA were ordered to reduce flying which would be outside their control0
