If my employer paid an agent for the delayed flights which myself and my partner were on, will the compensation still go to me and my partner, or just to my employer? Sorry, couldn't find this in any FAQ. Thanks.0

A claim is for the individual passenger(s). Whether your employer has any claim over any compensation is a question you should put to them.0 -

However, if the employer obtained the tickets with a reduced fare which is not available to the public, e.g. corporate discount, the passengers may not be entitled to compensation under EU261. See Article 3 para 3 of reg EU261.0 -
Thanks both. I'll post here with the outcome. I've contacted the agent and they'll be back from their Easter hols today.0

Having gone through the process with MSE excellent template etc we had confirmation 12/4 that we were due a refund of €500. Given chapter and verse on what caused delay. Phone call last week to say that payment would be made within the month. This morning phone call to say that the Refunds Team had now rejected this claim and so 'not to disappoint' another offer may be made if I agreed. My reply 'see you in court' . What should I have done?0

Who knows. A few questions:
Where we you flying to/from;
When;
Who with;
How long were delayed on arrival at the destination;
Why were you delayed (what were you told);
Were you advised by writing you would be offered compensation;
Why has the claim now been rejected?0 -

Hi all,
I am due to fly to Perth, WA from Gatwick in December 2014 and after finding a very good deal (although I suppose you usually get what you pay for) I went ahead and booked with Garuda, Indonesia's airline. It was through an agent (Crystal Travel) and they have notified me that the flight times have changed twice already since booking a month ago.
Instead of arriving at 16:15 the day after departure I am now arriving at 00:30 the following morning (over 8 hours later). They have also added an additional stop-over in Bali.
This is still 8 months away but wasn't sure if I would be entitled to compensation (I don't think I would ever have booked with 2 stop overs or arriving in the middle of night making travel onwards much more difficult/expensive. Most of the compensation articles I have read refer to flights that have already been taken.
I am tempted to rebook with perhaps a more trustworthy airline but wasn't sure if compensation/refund would help make that decision easier? Any experts out there?!
All the best.

no compensation if given more than 14 days notice of the change. The agent should advise your choices0

I realise this is normally a flight delay forum but having read Martins info I am still unsure whether I may have a valid claim for a cancellation of a flight.
We booked return flights with Lufthansa many months ago from Manchester to Bodrum (via Munich). On 31.3.14, 4 days before we were due to fly we received a generic email to say the two outbound flights were cancelled. No explanation, no details of a replacement flight ,no contact details. On investigation I discovered it was due to a Lufthansa Pilots strike for 3 days (2 - 4.4.14). Obviously as we had received no cancellation for our return flights we needed to still make our destination or we would have no holiday. I tried for 18 hours solid to contact Lufthansa by telephone and never got through their lines could not handle the volume of calls, it would ring engaged for a few seconds then cut you off. I decided therefore the next day to drive to Manchester Airport to the Lufthansa desk and the chap there did check availability of alternatives but the only and best alternative flights on the required date was a flight with Turkish airlines going to Manchester via Istanbul. This flight left Manchester 8hrs 50 minutes later than our original departure time and would arrive in Bodrum at 0130 hours the next day 7hrs 35 minutes later than the original arrival time.
In Martins info it gives 'industrial action' as one of the reasons you cannot make a claim under the exceptional circumstances. Does anyone know if this refers to outside industrial action or if it includes internal action. I would appreciate any feedback, thanks.0
