As long as you are prepared to give them, of course.

Delayed with Monarch on Saturday by 186 minutes from Lanzarote. Is it normal to wait a while before putting a claim in? Also the reason was due to a flight out from Birmingham having to turn around due to a technical fault and a plane being flown down from Manchester to bring flight out to Lanzarote. Do you think there is a valid claim there?
On the plus side I have finally put my claim form in to Virgin for my delay 2 years ago to Las Vegas and have had a acknowledgement letter that they will be in touch within 28 days. Fingers crossed :)

Katelina you would appear to have a valid claim but timing is 'tight' so make sure arrival delay is 180 mins +. Within the 6 year window you can put your claim in whenever. This should be on the Monarch thread by the way .... also you should find some info here > https://www.facebook.com/MonarchComplaints
  • I emailed easyjet using link on their website (sorry can't post the link as I'm a newbie) on 16/10/13 due to my flight being cancelled on 15/10/13 due to their check in system failing and I copied and pasted my letter that I had written from the template on this site. I received an email today saying my 500 euros (2 passengers at 250 each) will be transferred to my original payment method in 15-20 days. Result!
  • Hi

Just received the below response from swiss (NO), sent in the letter template from this site re a 4 hour delay due to missed connection claiming 400 euros.

Have looked at referring to the EU version of CAA in hungary but this is much harder than the CAA (cant report to them because flight was from outside UK). More help on non CAA referrals would be appreciated

"Safety has the utmost priority at SWISS. However, it is an unavoidable fact that technical problems can occur at short notice, and this cannot always be prevented. The flight irregularity in this instance was an extraordinary and unavoidable circumstance. I regret that I am therefore unable to comply with your request for compensation under Regulation (EC) 261/2004."
  • We were delayed 6 hours on our return from Paris on Easy jet to Edinburgh , I wrote for compensation and my relpy was " In the terms and conditions it states after an hour delay we can get a re routed flight free or our money back ? Therefore no compensation will be paid , I dont see this on any other posts is this a new repy , should I take it to the CAA ?
  • We thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to your request for compensation based on European Regulation 261/2004. Under EU regulations, carriers are not required to provide EU compensation in the event that the carrier performed all necessary maintenance checks and took all steps feasibly viable to prevent a mechanical cancellation or delay. We can assure you our aircraft undergo all required maintenance; however, despite the best preventive maintenance, some malfunctions cannot be predicted. Our records indicate all required measures pertinent to this flight were taken; therefore, no compensation under the EU Regulation No. 261/2004 is due.

--- This sounds like they are fobbing me off??
