I've read it - hence why i'm claiming against Lufthansa for a cancellation which caused me more than a 2 hour delay.
Kentish_bloke didn't actually say if his flight was just delayed - or whether it was cancelled for the replacement plane to be provided later.
Sorry, wasn't trying to come across like I just hadn't read anything before asking...was just trying to clarify for his purposes as he may have been cancelled but used the word delay.0 -
My daughter and her boyfriend were delayed for 12hours back in 2005 travelling from Crete to Manchester. She has not got the flight details so I was wondering if there was anyway that she could trace these and make a claim, if a claim was in date.
Can anyone help ?0 -

Too late out of time.0 -
I was successful in being refunded €600 from BA for a delayed flight from Cairo to Heathrow in 2011. Took many, many phone calls to get them to respond, but all good in the end.0

We had a 24 hour delay with AA in November. We completed there online claim form there is no other way to contact them either by direct email of telephone.
After 8 weeks we have today received an email confirming we are correct to claim and advising us they are sending us each a $1000 transportation voucher to use on their flights within the next year. After speaking to the CAA helpline we have today sent back another form advising that we want the cash compensation we are entitled to. It's very fustrating that you are unable to email them directly or to speak to anyone and now expect to be back in the 8 week queue. Has anyone been successful in claiming from AA or have a contact number or email.
Thank you0 -

I believe this thread has now run it's course, it's simply too long, and I fear many posters, like the one above whose questions are answered in a FAQ's post just 20 before his/hers, are simply posting and not reading to find the answers for themselves.
My further input will therefore be limited to new and unusual q's that I feel I can help with.0 -

I don't have any supporting paperwork as i submitted it to my company for an expenses claim as it was a business trip. I have used the links to get info on the flight stats, which give a 4 digit flight number & all the departure times (original & delayed) etc on the timeline. If i remember correctly there was some kind of technical issue with the original plane so a replacement one was provided by another 'partner' airline.
My question really is, have i got any chance of getting any compensation as detailed on the MSE site?
I think this is what you're looking for...there's no compensation but if you are protected by the Denied Boarding regulation, you are entitled to:
Two free phone calls, faxes or e-mails; and
Free meals and refreshments appropriate to the delay; and
Free hotel accommodation and hotel transfers if an overnight stay is required.
The above applies:
When a flight under 932 miles (for example, London to Venice) is delayed for at least two hours
When a flight within the EU that is more than 932 miles (for example, London to Athens) is delayed for at least three hours
When a flight that isn't within the EU but is between 932 and 2,174 miles is delayed for at least three hours
When any other flight is delayed for at least four hours.I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0 -

On take-off on Saturday from a Virgin Atlantic flight out of Orlando the plane developed an engine fault and had to make an emergency landing back at Orlando. It is suspected that there was a multiple bird strike.
We were put up in a hotel for the night. The next day we were ferried back to the airport to find out that the Manchester flight that day was full and that they were putting us on a flight to Gatwick with BA with a 5 to 6 hour coach drive from Gatwick to Manchester. I refused saying I had paid for a direct flight but was told if we refused then I would have to pay all costs until I could get a flight with Virgin to Manchester so reluctantly I accepted.
It cost me extra baggage costs on BA after I had already paid Virgin for extra baggage and it cost me an extra 2 days parking at the airport. I ended up being delayed at the airport by over 24 hours and I was 32 hours extra in getting home.0
