    Hi,

In october 2011 me and my gf went to turkey (Antalya aiport) via bristol airport with Thomas cook (package deal)

The departure flight was delayed and we were given no compensation towards this, do i have a case? is it that simple? from reading the links above it doesnt seem that way!

    Scheduled Departure:

    Estimated Departure:
    2:50 AM - Mon 31-Oct-2011

    Actual Departure:

We got home from bristol for about 8am i seem to remember and this was back to birmingham, Gf is a school teacher and had to call in sick as was up 24hours with no sleep etc, i was off work :D

I've just got this bit of info to:

    Scheduled Arrival:
    12:05 AM - Mon 31-Oct-2011

Needless to say we never arrived at 12am monday!!

By how much of a delay did you arrive at your destination as that's where the 3 hours + counts.

Blindman, we arrived at our destination by over 3 hours later than scheduled.

Do I contact them again via their response or use a different means of contacting them?

What was the reason given for the delay?

Was this delay just for the return flight?

It was just the return flight that was delayed and i think the plane was stuck elsewhere due to weather and it would have been longer to send a new one from the uk?

I read that over 5hours the weather is taken out of account its it is the airlines fault eitherway?

I'm not the expert but if it were me I'd reply to their letter with the template that Centipede100 wrote.

What name\ address did Flybe write from? May be of use to others.

Centipede100 will be along shortly I'm sure, but AFAIK if the weather at YOUR departure point is fine-then the airline is at fault for not flying you out on time.

I was on a Virgin flight a few years ago from Orlando via Manchester to Dublin. At the time there was also a Virgin flight from Orlando to Gatwick and this flight developed a technical problem. Virgin decided to hold our flight and transfer as many of the Gatwick passengers onto it as possible (I think it was about 75). We ended up being delayed by 70 minutes which was exactly the length of time that we had for our transfer in Manchester onto an Aer Lingus flight to Dublin - there was no chance we would make it. Virgin put us up in a hotel (without any luggage) for the day and then put us on a flight later in the day, we ended up about 8 hours late. I did complain to Virgin but they just chose to mis-understand my complaint that my delay was their choice, they did award me 5000 virgin miles (to both my wife and myself) for the inconvenience. I never felt this was a reasonable response - do you think I should be entitled to compensation?

  • My delayed flight, of over 7 hours with a 5 & 2 year old in tow, was with BMIbaby, who are no longer operating. Can anyone suggest who I should send my claim to? Flight was this year on Aug 1st.Thank you!
