  • Hi. Could anyone tell me if compensation is allowed on a flight delay of 12 hours. Our incoming flight was allegedly struck by lightning and another plane had to be brought from Bristol to Naples.Thank you

    Hi,
Please bare with with on any stupid questions that may be within this post. I'm a first time flyer and unsure whether I will be eligible for any compensation after my flight home from Paris was cancelled.
So I received a text at half 7 yesterday morning (7th) to say my flight home for that morning was cancelled. We were due to take off at 9:55am local time and land at Bristol Airport at 10:15 local time. We arrived at the airport and spoke with the Fly BMI check in desk who said they were putting us onto a flight at 18:55 to Cardiff. They also offered both of us a €15 voucher for lunch at one of the terminal cafes because of the inconvenience. Also ground transport to Bristol would be provided. The flight was cancelled because the pilot was ill.
So we spent the the day in Paris and checked in etc for our flight to Cardiff. The flight took off a little later than planned as we toured the entire airport to get to an empty runway or something... So we landed at approx 19:15 local time.
By the time we went through all the checks and got our luggage we spoke with someone who said transport was arranged and he had arrived at the airport at 18:15 local time so was sent away and hoped he would return at 19:15. We (along with a few others) were waiting at Cardiff Airport until 20:30 for the minibus to turn up and finally making it back to Bristol Airport at approx 22:00
Delayed home for nearly 12 hours.
Is this a case for any compensation? Thank you in advance for any help and guidance to where we might stand, like I said I'm a first time flyer and not really sure what my rights are for this

Has anyone received any compensation from Flybmi recently, or how long did it take to receive your money? The above was what I posted back in May. I used resolver originally to try and make my claim although I heard nothing back through them so I contacted customer services directly early August (according to my emails)

About a month later with messages going to and from the agent and myself, they granted me compensation for the two tickets, I had given them my bank details and looking forward to the money in my account after hearing so many quick refunds. Around the middle to end of September, still nothing, so I messaged through my case file again, and no replies...

I sent a few messages through my case file to try and get an update and no response given back at all. So I rang them mid October and I was told they're was a backlog on refunds and I would have the money in my account by the 5th November. I accepted this however this date came and went and still no refund. I rang again around the 7/8th they have now said it will be in my account by the 22nd. I asked whether this was definitely going to happen and she said yes, but I'm doubtful.

Is there anything else I can do? Has anyone else tried claiming with this airline? How long did it take you? I'm just getting extremely frustrated I get told a date when I should receive the money and then having to make stupidly long phone calls whilst I seem to be getting fobbed off again!

Hi. As usual the airline are doing everything they can to avoid paying you, even though they have agreed to compensation. In the hope you will give up and go away.
The delaying tactics used by airlines are truly dishonest and abysmal.

    1. Send a letter 1st class post or email if you have an email address for correspondance (or both), demanding payment cleared to your account, with 14 days (from the date of your letter).
Make it quite clear that if payment is not received you will commence legal action for recovery of the debt, including interest, owed to you. Start getting your court papers/MCOl submission ready.
    2. A strongly worded letter of complaint to the CAA about the time and trouble you have had to go to to get compensation due to you since May, over 5 months ago.

  • I sought compensation from Emirates for delaying my flight by an hour and a half, and consequently missing my connecting flight. They came back with adverse weather conditions and having to de-ice the runway as reasons for delay. True, it was a November night but not particularly cold (about 3 degrees). Everyone on the other airlines seemed to board on time. My point is, wouldn't adverse weather conditions be their stock answer, given that they don't have to compensate for weather conditions?
  • Put your flight details into bottonline and euclaim and see what they say

CEDR list the following airlines that have signed up to arbitration.

    EasyJet
    Thomas Cook
    TUI
    Condor
    British Airways

Is this an up to date list or are there any more airlines signed up.

Is CEDR the same as ADR?
  • Yes, CEDR is a form of ADR in that it is an ajudication outsidethe Court system

So if any of the airlines reject compensation my understanding is that you ask for a deadlock letter and then go to CEDR Is that correct? Also are the above 5 airlines the only ones signed up to CEDR? What about Ryanair, Jet2?
