Well I never received any experience from this forum,

Not quite sure what you mean by that? But what you have proven, yet again, is that you need to be tenacious to get what you are due.

    Good result and well done:beer:

Sorry, please let me clarify - nobody responsed with my query as to how long it would take, that's all. As I said in my original post this is a very long thread, so wasn't expecting that to be honest, but wanted to share my experience in case it helped others.

Other than that, this forum is a great source of info and help.

    Thanks

Hi shinydoc, well done on your result. Nobody responded because nobody knows. The airlines, as you have discovered, are a law unto themselves.
A shocking state of affairs that the CAA continues to allow.

A result, albeit with lots of chasing and tweeting to get some action, but 55 days from when I first submitted using Resolver and 22 days after using Norwegiann's online form.

I used Resolver initially, but they totally just ignore everything on there, but I then filled in the online Norwegian form, which mysteriously disappears occasionally! Then loads of tweets to get traction, which did help a little.

Thank you this is very interesting, I used resolver for a Norweigan delay and got a reply after 5 weeks admitting they owed us compensation and requested bank details. I sent these back the same day, but after another 7 weeks and repeated chasing no money has been received. Norweigan do seem to now be ignoring resolver.

Thank you. I was hoping for some personal experience with Norwegian, that's all.

They will ignore Resolver and I believe it has limited use in circumstances like these as I got up to CEO esclation with no reply at all. My experience was to tweet them @Fly_Norwegian if you use Twitter, if not, maybe create an account just for this, like I did. It worked for me - don't give up and keep the tweets public, limiting the direct messages that they WILL help you with behind the scenes.

They want full banking details too inc IBAN/BIC etc, did you provide that?

    Good Luck!

Thanks, I gave them a ring, they claimed they didn't receive any emails from me (via resolver) after they accepted I was due compensation. I had sent the full bank details twice. So I've now given them the bank details over the phone. He said it should be paid within 14 days. We will see.

I had already escalated to CEO via resolver a week ago, and no reply. They seem to be dragging their feet. So I'm voting with my feet and will not fly with them again, even if they do pay up.

I'm not that impressed with resolver, and probably won't use them again.

That's progress towards the end goal of actually getting the cash in your account then. My credit seemed to come from Norwegian UK, well that's what my bank said.

Mine was in the bank on the 3rd day from when I actually got the email to say that it had actually been paid. Unless you are at that stage, I wouldn't doubt that they would keep delaying further, but I am sure you will monitor now and take up again when they hit their own timescales.

I think Resolver works when the Airline plays ball. It worked for me last year when I had a 10 hour delay with Thomas Cook, but I still had to call them once if I remember and then it was resolved.

All Resolver does is save you looking up the details of who to escalate to and keeps all the correspondence in the one place. Most Airlines have their own on-line claim portal now, but Norwegian's did keep disappearing when I checked and the wording only ever implies it was for expenses, not compensation; another tactic, I expect!

Good luck and keep us updated with what happens with payment timescales etc as this may be invaluable for others in the same situation.

Looking at https://www.cnbc.com/2018/10/25/norwegian-air-earnings-q3-2018.html they can afford it!!
  • My flight from new York to Manchester was delayed as one of the pilots got ill and we were told by airport staff after visiting the doctor he had been advised
not to fly we were told when we arrived at 2 pm at JFK.They had got/sourced another pilot but he had to get there to JFi then have a rest. Our delay was about 4.5 hours, I put a claim in as to me it's obvious staff get sick its not extra ordinary circumstance i received stating no because.....Passenger or crew member becomes seriously ill or dies on-board at short notice before the flight. .,The pilot was not on board and this was at least 6 hours before departure..I was thinking along the lines that staff being ill isn't out of the norm. Any pointers from anyone on how to contest there refusal? P
