I've noticed all my flights this year were timed between 10 and 30 mins longer than actual time taken.
Next week Leeds to Alicante - 3hrs scheduled, 2hrs 40 mins actual flight time.

I have noticed that a lot recently over the past few years

It seems like Ryanair started it so when they are 20 minutes late, they can still play the bugle when they land and claim that you have arrived on yet another on time Ryanair flight !

Thanks for the info - I will have a look - I guess the airline are not legally obligated to reimburse our expenses ?

Depends on what kind of expenses you are looking to get reimbursed.
  • Hi, Im having trouble as I've never claimed for refund on a holiday before. We booked a package holiday with Secret Escapes to Ischia (island just off Naples) We were seriously delayed on a Tui flight which resulted in us missing the last ferry to Ischia. We were actually flown to Rome then got a coach to Naples. We were left stranded in Naples at 11'O clock at night. Nobody would help us. Secrest Escapes were aware at 1pm that afternoon that we were probably not going to make the ferry. They wouldn't even give us a list of hotels in Naples so we could get a room for the night. They completely abandoned us in a strange city at night. Now they say we have to get the flight refund ourselves, even though the whole thing was booked through them. They have offered us £70. We also lost 2 days of our holiday and had to pay for a night in a hotel, taxis and the ferry to Ischai the following day. Any advise please?

    Hi LeighBo,

Because this was a package the regulations come under two categories.

If the cause of the delay was due to the airline you can claim EU261 compensation and costs/expenses getting to your original airport but not the Island. There are some exemptions for the airline depending on the cause of the delay. Download and read Vaubans guide, details just below here. You can also put your flight details into one or two flight delay calculators, such at Botts, to see if they believe you have a valid claim.

For you other expenses and possible compensation getting to the Island you should look up the 'Package Travel Directive' and the Montreal Convention, which I don't know much about. There is also ABTA to look into who may be able to help.

    Good luck
Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.
  • Vueling delayed flight & refusal to reimburse transfer of ticket

I wonder if someone can help me. Back in April I flew from Gatwick to Barcelona as the outward and return delayed by over two hours. Obviously means I’m not able to claim compensation that would be due for a three hour plus delay. In either instance they didn’t offer any vouchers for food or water. In one case they got us on the plane just before the 2hr limit for vouchers. Then we had to wait before setting off.

First question can I ask for compensation for the poor treatment? Not to worry if this is par for the course because my main question is:

Secondly & most important for the outward journey I arrived many hours early and decided to pay to move my ticket to an earlier flight. I got to the counter was checking the app which showed this earlier flight was delayed by two hours and would leave the same time as the flight I already had booked. I was talking to the lady at the counter and she said it was wrong and charged me for the change into a supposedly earlier flight. She was wrong, possibly even lying, and the flight was now delayed and was leaving at the same time as my original flight. I have contacted Vueling who said they don’t reimburse “extras” as they call it. This isn’t an extra this is terrible customer service & selling me something that actually didn’t exist. How should I proceed?

    Not really sure.
But perhaps not use Vueling in the future.
Regulars on here would probably point to poor customer service.

    Hi,
My flight AY121 from Helsinki to Delhi on 31st July was delayed by 3 hours and 8 minutes. I am filling up a form to send by post as I believe I can't use resolver (as the flight was not to/ from UK).

Question: What is the amount I need to claim?
MSE advises €300. If you check this website, they advise €400:

    Kindly advise. Thanks in advance.
