  • Hello! Seeking some advice on our situation if possible please..
Our Flybe flight from Birmingham to Preveza was meant to leave at 8.10am but due to ‘pilot sickness’ it has now been delayed. They are telling us the new departure time is estimated 11.45am.
Flybe have given us £12.50 each as food vouchers.
Do we have any grounds for compensation?
    Thanks in advance!

compensation is based on arrival time...so if you arrive over 3 hours late you may have a claim. Flybe should provide you information on your rights

Regardless of compensation £12.50 each food vouchers is a lot more generous than nearly all airlines, well done Flybe

Anything over 3 hours late, not 4. Typo no doubt:)

Can I ask your advice please?

A few weeks ago my DH and I were due to fly with American Airlines on a through ticket – New Orleans – Chicago and Chicago – Manchester. American Airlines had a computer outage which meant we landed at New Orleans but couldn’t proceed to the gate. This meant that we missed our connecting AA flight to Manchester.

The American Airlines representative rebooked us on to the next available flight which was with British Airways but routed us through Heathrow and then on to Manchester. (We were given a new BA booking reference for this.) As soon as she had done this we found out that this flight had been delayed by 2 ½ hours (but I can’t remember the reason). We then realised that we wouldn’t make the Heathrow – Manchester connection so a BA representative rebooked us on to another Heathrow – Manchester flight.

The BA Chicago – Heathrow flight actually took off 3 hours late which meant we then missed the 2nd LHR – Man flight so had to be rebooked onto a 3rd Heathrow – Manchester flight. This BA Heathrow – Manchester was also delayed by an hour before setting off.

Our original scheduled landing time at Manchester, with American Airlines, was 08.45.

The revised scheduled landing time, with BA, (based on the first Heathrow – Manchester flight) was 13.25.

Our actual landing time was 17.45.

I realise that we don’t have a claim with American Airlines but was wondering, as we had been given a new BA booking reference, whether I had a claim with BA. (As I thought I didn’t have a claim I’ve got rid of all the BA tickets but do just have a note of the booking reference and flight numbers.)

I would welcome your thoughts please.

    Many thanks

Put your BA flight number into bottonline and then euclaim and see what they say. Was it one ticket from Chicago to Manchester?

I would say you do have a claim against BA as you were re-routed, your re-routed flight eventually got you to Manchester considerably later than 3-4 hours later than the original scheduled time of the BA flight (ignoring the AA flight/original time)
It does depend on the reasons for the delay(s) with the BA flights.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply.

Yes, when we were rebooked both flights were on the same ticket.

I can't remember the reason that was given for the delayed BA Chicago - Heathrow flight. Is there a way of finding out or would it be worth putting a claim in and seeing what the response is?

    Many thanks
