All depends on the reason for the cancellation of the flight. Put her flight details into bottonline and euclaim and see what they said then repost on the relevant Airline thread As far as missing a days work the Airline are not responsible for a payment did she have travel insurance?0

Hi, we were recently delayed over 4 hours on an Easyjet flight from Bristol to Geneva. Easyjet said they had to change our plane due to a technical issue. I put the flight number into Bottonline and it says - Congratulations!
Claim your compensation now
€250 per passenger
Complete your details below to start your claim against the airline. It’ll take less than a minute.
I've already submitted a claim form direct to Easyjet, did it whilst waiting at the airport! Does this mean i am likely due to get compensation?
thanks0 -
From what you tell us, it should.
Hopefully EJ will payup without fuss.
However it is not often the case.
In preparation, download and have a browse through Vauban's superb guide to claiming and problems you may encounter.

Hi,
I went through the guide and had a bit of an exchange with Wizzair, trying to claim compensation for a delayed flight.
Wizzair is now rejecting our claim based on "unexpected circumstances". I should note, we never received the reason for the delay while in the airport/in-flight. When pressed for more details on the nature of the unexpected circumstances Wizzair are stating that they cannot disclose the details behind the delay ("results of our daily checks are classified") and that they are "ready to provide relevant documents to the authorities empowered to control air carriers"
What's the best next step here? Should I reach out to a claims firm now?
Thank you0 -

Report them to the CAA for withholding relevant information then request a deadlock letter from Wizz followed by starting a claim via AviationADR who provide their ADR service.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
Or DIY, with the help of Vauban's guide.
Unexpected circumstances is not a valid reason to deny compensation.
Extraordinary Circumstances are, provided it is actually a valid EC.
Have you tied putting your flight details through online NWNF firms such as Botts or EUClaims? If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

As you are finding out, airlines use numerous tricks to put off claimants and many do indeed give up. However, you have taken the time to seek advice so press on. Expect them to throw up further chaff.0 -
Hi
I took this route with my wife a couple of weeks ago. The 2nd leg was delayed by 5 days in total. I am not sure of our rights as the 2nd leg was not from Europe. All we received from the airline was the equivalent of 20 quid ! Below is my email to the airline which has not been replied to (it has been 8 days) ould anyone give any advice on our refund rights, if any ? thanks
details:
PR1466 16th August - Manila - Incheon. Cancelled due to the crash landing of the Xiamen Airlines flight that evening.
We landed at Manila from London (PR467 10.20pm 15th August) in the evening on Thursday 16th August.
We were due to fly out, to Seoul, at 11.45pm, after disembarking the plane when it was clear we were not going to take off anytime soon, all the transit customers were shepherded off to the transit lounge where we were simply forgotten about.
We received our food coupons but after that, the agent from Philippines Airlines went missing.
Other customers from other flights came and went and were rebooked at the desk outside the lounge. It took several calls from people at that desk for her to finally appear to assist us (she arrived at 1.30 pm Friday) She was around for 15 minutes before going off to 'get letters for us to enter the Philippines' , she never returned!
Luckily another agent was on hand to get us through immigration , collect our bags and point us in the direction of the booking office.
After waiting there for an hour we realised it would be another 4-5 hours before we would be seen so we located a rebooking desk in the terminal. There we received 1000 pesos each and were put on the flight leaving on 21st August.
On the 21st, we arrived at the airport to be told that we were not booked on that evening's flight.
The tickets we were issued on Friday were just to get rid of us.
They were refusing to let us and 5 other passengers who travelled from London last Wednesday to fly.
It was not until we insisted on speaking to the manager and described how we have been treated that they issued us with boarding passes.0 -
Your flights are covered by EU261, however the cause of the cancellation sounds like extraordinary circumstances which means no compensation. If I understand you correctly, the airline got you to your final destination so there will be no right to a refund. If you had any expenses for meals or accommodation during the delay, you can claim them back from the airline.0

Here is another airline trick to cut down on compensation payments.
