  • Hi
I was fliyng from Aberdeen via Heathrow to Houston with BA.
The flight from Aberdeen was delayed just over an hour but as a result I missed the connection to Houston.
The connections desk offered me a hotel and transfer by bus overnight and a flight the next morning. The desk also pointed me to this MSE and gave me a leaflet explaining my rights.
I used the free tool (resolver) to make a claim.
BA this morning offered me 600 Euro or 60000 avios compensation.
I'd like to point out that BA customer service were excellent, they in fact helped by pointing me here then resolving the case within 4 days.
Thanks MSE for the easy route to claiming and Thanks BA for the no quibble resolution. Very satisfied despite having a 14 hour delay to my destination.
  • Hi,

I do have booking confirmation, and details of the flight we were on. The issue is that BA are saying we weren't present on the flight. It was a significant delay from outside the EU into Gatwick.

Thanks for suggesting SAR - seems like a good idea. I'll do that.

you may want to have a read on the BA board to see if others have had similar issues https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4384701

Hi Guys, I'm looking for some advise or guidance please. I flew with Qatar airways, my flight connections were from Edinburgh - Doha - Male where i would be getting another connecting flight on a sea plane to an island in the Maldives.
The flight departing Doha - Male was delayed by 4 hours which meant i missed the last sea plane to get to the island.
It was bad enough being told we could not fly in darkness to arrive on a beautiful exotic island and missing 1 night of our holiday but we had to stay in a hotel overnight costing us $500 and had to pay another $100 for food on top of that too. I am being annoyed with a flight claim company pestering me to take on the case but say I will only get between 300 - £600 each and they will take half of it. Has anyone had something like this happen to them and offer me some help or advice? I would be ever so grateful.

    Thank you in advance
    John.
  • You expected them to land a sea plane in the dark?

I didn't know what to expect having not flown in a sea plane before, you clearly know more about things than me hense why i was asking for advise not on my knowledge of night flying. I did inform my travel agent but they said It was not their fault but the airlines.

Firstly put your flight details into Bottonline and EuClaim to see if they think you are entitled to compensation. If you are you can Google and download Vaubans guide, read it and follow the advice if you are happy to do it yourself. I know Bott will take around 30% to do it for you, but then you won't have any hassle. I imagine EuClaim are about the same.

If there was no delay on the flight from Edinburgh, expect to have a rejection from the airline stating the delay was wholly outside the EU so no compensation is payable. Currently the regulations are unclear on whether there should be a claim for cases like this but there was talk of a court case to clear it up (although it may clear up more where there is a small delay ex-EU that results in a missed onwards flight and a longer delay)

I flew from Heathrow to Male (Maldives) with a stopover in Doha with Qatar airline. The Doha to Male flight was delayed for 3.75 hours, causing us to miss the last transfer from Male to our holiday island. We ended up spending a night in a backpackers hostel in Male instead of our nice all-inclusive hotel. Although the 2nd flight was not from an EU airport, we were travelling on a single e-ticket London-Male. Are we entitled to compensation?

Our insurance picked up the bill for the extra accommodation, but there was no compensation for the lost night at our all-inclusive hotel.
