Thank you all for making me feel better about delaying our ttc date until December. I've spent most of the day with my 6 month old neice so broodiness levels are definitely high! She is a cutie though.

    RebekahR - lol!

Looks like we will be a similar time then! I am wanting end of year but hubby is wanting now. Tough lol :-D

A long time lurker, I have finally decided to register, and this seemed like the perfect post to start, so hello everyone :)

    My age/partner's age
    24/24
    Time together
    2 years 4 mths
    What are you waiting for?
I already have a 9 month old LB, who was a big shock. We decided that since we were going to have one, we'd have children close together. Unfortunately, I have ongoing issues following the birth of my LB and I'm waiting for that to be sorted. Otherwise, we'd already be trying for baby number 2.
    When will you be TTC?
As soon as I'm sorted, although I desperately want to start trying now!
    Any pre-TTC prep?
Sadly none, but we fell accidentally last time (on the pill, and having no periods). I'm still taking my pill just to keep regular, and also to try and avoid pregnancy as this will only complicate the issues I currently have.

Oooh welcome too all the new faces! The Boss and I bought vitamins for ourselves in our weekly shop today (start vitamins on Monday...) and I freaked out a little bit as mine are general 'for mother and baby' vitamins... which is kind of scary... in a ridiculously cool way! I've also stocked up on loads of interesting herbal teas - to tide me over as I'm reducing my caffiene intake now. It's all getting a bit real, we're off to register our intent to marry on Thursday!
Officially saved enough to cover the cost of our wedding! :A

Made the decision to come off my pill in July! its still a few months ago yet but it makes it all seem a bit more real. Ideally we dont want to conceive until October so gonna have a few months to come off the pill and let things settle and actively not try till at least September!
Going to have a look at the nhs website link someone posted too, as I suppose I should be thinking about vitamins from July time too.
And as age seems to be the height of discussion atm, I'm 26 (so on the younger side I suppose), but husband is 31, so time just seems right :)
You're looking to fall at a similar time to us, and we're going to start actively trying from Sept too. Hi!

Well how strange Tillyenna I also bought lots of green tea, decaf tea and folic acid in this weeks weekly shop and the implant comes out Thursday, eek! No alcohol either! Looking forward to getting my body back on track naturally after nine years of contraception and excited to do something that feels a bit like starting. Will make a note of my cycles and try to work out rough poss ovulation cycle then get cracking properly from Sept! Just a teensy bit pregnant by Christmas would be ideal!

Haven't posted in a while, trying to suppress my broodiness!
I also got vitamins in this weeks shop, including zinc and folic acid for DH after I read a study that it improves sperm. He seems happy to do it, every little helps. For me I just got the bog standard folic acid to start taking. My eyes nearly popped out of my head when I saw the cost of pregnacare. Not convinced its worth it, this is a money saving forum after all.

I'm also looking at beg sept so looks like a few of us will be starting together. Exciting! It's less than 100 days to September which makes it all seem real.

Stopping caffeine is an idea that I don't relish. I'm not a crazy, caffeine fuelled, 10-mugs-a-day kind of person but I do enjoy a good strong coffee it the morning.

I have to admit I have no intention of giving up caffeine but then I am a tea drinking rather than coffee. I have anywhere between 1 and 3 cups a day and that's not that much caffeine.
Current nhs advice (for what it's worth) is to have under 200mg caffeine per day.

I'm also not going to give up alcohol until I see a positive test. I'm not a big drinker but share the odd bottle of wine with DH (1-2/month) and the odd gin and tonic. Between 9 months of pregnancy plus breast feeding I think we abstain for long enough. Besides who know how long it will take TTC.

For those who are buying vitamins at the moment, Morrisons own brand conception/pregnancy vitamins are currently buy-1-get-2-free (which at 4.50 a box, doesn't seem too bad!)

I've decided to limit down to 1 caffinated drink a day (cannot survive without atleast SOME coffee) and am switching to herbal teas for the time being, it's not something I'm overly enjoying... about to try a chammomile for the first time, and I'm a little bit apprehensive!

I'm another September starter - so there will be loads of us heading over to the TTC thread in September!

    Thanks for the link
I don't think it would be necessary for me to give up coffee then. My 1 in the morning sounds fine, and I think your body will probably behave better with as little unnecessary change as possible really.

Absolutely, most things are fine in moderation and some of the recommendations are based on flimsy evidence at best.
I also won't be giving up runny eggs when I am pregnant. Salmonella from eggs in the uk is very rare so as long as they are fresh and lion stamped I will be indulging in egg and soldiers throughout!

The whole situation of what you should/shouldn't do for TTC/pregnancy/breast feeding is a complete minefield!
